I think Chris helps us, because he gives us an athleticism and energy. It's important that we get him feeling good about his minutes and who he's going to play with. He basically hasn't played with Chauncey (Billups) yet.
I am definitely relieved to have him back ... Some of our guys who we've asked to play outside their roles, they are going to be really excited, as well. Him coming back helps the whole setting. We never make excuses, but our guys lost a lot when they lost Chauncey Billups and Dyess. The fact that we are getting Dyess back really helps, and not just from a basketball standpoint. Just having him around again will help.
I don’t know. It really depends on the player. Veteran players sometimes make it seamless. Obviously in Denver, Chauncey Billups did it pretty easily.
I think we really match up a lot better with them this year, than we did last year, especially with the Chauncey Billups factor. Even though Iverson is a great player, we don’t have to worry about their point guard posting us up.
I've got my legs back underneath me, and I definitely feel that out there ... Having Chauncey (Billups) and everybody, we're trying to figure each other out, and I think we're doing a great job. Everybody's getting involved.
I can’t say it was all Rasheed or it was only Rasheed. But even with that, I just still feel like that should have never come into play. I feel like no matter what the coach is doing, how you feel or whatever, you can’t cheat your teammates and not give maximum effort because you’re mad at the coach. I think that cost us at least one championship.
If Rip would have knew that this deal was going on, I just don’t know that he would have signed that extension ... It was kind of funny to me that they announced this trade the same day that he signed. I really don’t know. … It just seemed weird to me. He signed that extension three days before the trade. … I think it might have been a little different if all this was exposed early.
It’s kind of surreal when you first get traded. But when I saw that No. 1 on TV with a different name, that’s when I said, ‘It’s official.’
It was the hardest two or three hours that I’ve had in a long, long time in my life ... We just couldn’t believe that it’s over. It’s over. That’s the thing that’s so tough about trades. No matter what happens, it’s over. So those two or three hours were crazy.
As far as the basketball goes, that's the easy part ... When I say that's the easy part, that's what I've been used to doing all my life. It's not easy to win in the Western Conference, but the basketball part is easy. As far as off the court, me being who I've always been in the community. I take a lot of pride in that. I'm going to be there as much as I can. But people will just have to understand that I can't do everything.
He is as grounded, and always was, but always was very dedicated to becoming a better player ... and was always a student of the game. . . . He hasn't changed one bit. You would think that with the accolades that he's received to this point that he'd be satisfied, but he's not.
