firing Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke was a lousy idea, and so was getting Chris Weitz to take her place. Instead of making films, Weitz said he would like to read books, become a better surfer, learn to speak Spanish, travel and learn kung-fu. It's nice to make movies, but it's also really hard.

As we went further and further into our shoot there, the Twitter effect took hold, and where we were shooting became more and more known each day, and the crowds waiting outside became bigger and bigger
I think it's just a different approach with Chris Weitz. He came to this project sort of prepared with what it demanded, in terms of CGI and special effects and what the fans were expecting. I've heard people are concerned about Edward and the Cullens not being in the film, but Edward is very prominent in the film, especially in Bella's mind. The way that [director] Chris Weitz worked it out is beautiful, and I think that people are going to love it
Wow, am I glad we were able to shoot there ... We went to about 12 different hilltop towns in Tuscany, which was both delightful and exhausting, because it had to be done relatively quickly. Montepulciano had the most symmetrical main square that I could find, so that was the winner for that reason.
This is a real turnaround story for Chris Weitz
I know the director [Chris Weitz] really, really liked that track ... He really wanted to get it into a scene somewhere, but they wanted a slightly different vibe of what was already recorded for the album.
Chris Weitz had such a beautiful yet specific musical point of view for this picture ... It was so rewarding working with the director and the immensely talented artists on this project.
