View Photo »Our battle was better, but obviously the sharpness in our decision-making wasn’t ... When you give a team four breakaways, it kind of gives you an idea of the sharpness of your game. I’m definitely disappointed in that.
When things are tough, you’ve got to find ways to win ... I think our guys did a good enough job to battle and find a way to win. You take the wins for what they’re worth at this time of year. I’m certainly not going to complain about that. We’ve just got to keep working on getting better. Our battle wa...
Our battle was better tonight. But when you give a team four breakaways it gives you an idea of the sharpness of our game
Basically our whole game has slipped ... We’re not to the point of being a bad team, but it’s slipped to us being a very mediocre team right now. We need to bring it back to the level that’s expected of our group.
Sharper, means in all areas ... Our battle-level has to be better, our passing and willingness to take pucks to the net — bearing down in all those areas. Basically, our whole game has just kind of slipped a little bit. Not to the point of being a bad team, but to the point of being a very mediocre team...
We need to be on top of our game, execution, and our decision making is something we put our focus on ... For a while, it hasn't been up to par to our expectations.
Every game is a different situation and now we’re looking at it that way ... We thought we were a better team than what we showed in October. We decided to pick up our game and play the way we can. That’s made a big difference.
I think he’s coming along ... The thing is, he’s gotten some opportunities to score. He’s been a little snake-bitten as far as the finishing part of it. That’s the reason for some of the frustration. He’s off to a slower start, but we understand that sometimes guys who go through what he went through la...
I think (Horton) is coming along
We basically grind it out, win battles, screen, back check hard and commit to better defensive play in our own end ... Because we did that and did it quicker, we were able to take advantage for our offence.
I think we felt we were a better team than what we showed in October
They're a legit good team ... I think the reason we've been successful is we've never lost respect for them and we come prepared to play them.
I think right now being the leading scorer on our team, there's no doubt other teams are going to pay more attention to him ... Now he's got to overcome that challenge of teams playing harder than they did maybe at the beginning of the season when they probably didn't respect him as much as they do now....
Well, I think one thing is our power play is better this year. … We're spending a lot more time (on the attack) and we're doing a better job of controlling the puck in the offensive zone
I don’t think its going to be a hard game for them to be motivated for
Right now, we're playing yo-yo with these guys ... One game we're ahead of them, the next game we're behind them. This is an opportunity here in these next two games, if we want to spread that gap a little bit, it's up to us to go in and do the job.
The one thing you don’t want to do with this team is get into a shootout
To me, it resembled a little bit the hit that [Marc] Savard took from [Matt] Cooke a few years ago
It’s not something you forget when you’re on the receiving side, so I don’t think it’s going to be a hard game for them to be motivated for
If they were playing badly, spending most of their time in our own end, or being lazy and not having anything happening, it would be a different situation ... But I think they're getting their chances. Look at Horton the other night. If he had it on his stick, he would have an open net. It slipped off h...
The character that he has, he didn't say a word ... That's what I like about Brad. He takes responsibility. When he's given a chance, he answers properly.
I think anybody who comes back from that and has missed that amount of time is going to be slow coming back ... It's almost a natural process. You saw [Patrice] Bergeron take almost half a year, three-quarters of a year.
He’s probably not getting the points on the board the way everybody would like it to be, and when I say everybody, that’s including ourselves. That line is certainly capable of scoring and putting some points on the board, but that hasn’t been happening much lately
I like what I see ... That line is starting to give us some real good shifts and like it because there‘s times where you don‘t always want a hard match, so when they put their top lines on and we‘ve come off a power-play, you can feel comfortable about putting that line out there and still doing the job...
Just like teams that played us early in the year, we’re not the same team anymore ... That’s how you make sure you don’t get too overconfident, by understanding that there’s some highs and lows during the season.
