You're asking Cliff Lee to do something that he never did before ... We're also asking him to do it in a very big, important place, and that's in the World Series. I didn't have to think very long at all about that, and neither did [pitching coach Rich] Dubee.
We've met each other over the years and became friends and stuff, but it's not very often two guys from the state of Arkansas make it to the big leagues, much less square off against each other in the World Series
Seth Smith took some good swings off of Cliff Lee when we faced him in the regular season ... We give Smitty a shot at it today and give him four at-bats and see what happens. You move Carlos over to right field and you're still good defensively.
I didn’t really know him growing up. He was a little ahead of me, but I knew who he was, obviously ... It’s not very often two guys from the state of Arkansas make it to the big leagues, much less square off against each other in the World Series. ... That’s going to be a neat deal for our state and goi...
We’ve got to find a way to reverse that today and go out there and fight and remember the closer we get to the finish line, the harder things are going to get. The Phillies changed around their starting rotation this week. Pedro Martinez was bumped up a day and will start Wednesday and Cliff Lee will st...
It's surreal. It's what you dream of as a kid, being on this stage ... I'm here in the World Series, and I'm having success. And it feels great.
Of course, while the Lee-Sabathia matchup figures to intrigue most fans, it will probably be painful to watch for those in Cleveland. With both star pitchers approaching big paydays, the cost-conscious Indians dealt them away for packages of prospects. They can't be feeling too good about it
I mean, they can't be feeling too good about it (in Cleveland) ... It's two guys they could have had on their team that are now on different teams facing each other in the World Series.

You have to celebrate for winning the National League
We're going to be up for a good challenge ... This offense is pretty powerful. The American League supposedly is a slugging league. this lineup matches right up with any of those teams. For us, playing American League-style baseball is not going to be that big a big deal. It'll be a little tougher on th...

We play the game to be in these kinds of situations ... I'd trade my Cy Young Award to be able to pitch in these kinds of games any day.
I haven't been told for sure, other than the fact that all the games are equally important ... It's an unbelievable opportunity. It's a chance for me to help a team potentially go back to back and reach the World Series.
