Andy Pettitte has been very effective for a long time
Even though it has been a trying year for him, he's still Cole Hamels ... He's still one of the best left-handed pitchers in baseball. We have all the confidence in the world.
It was an ESPN game, I’m in my second year in pro ball, I get a start against who else than the Yankees, and of course I get to face those type of guys, and I know it was A-Rod’s first year with the Yankees
When it really got down to it, did we want to bring him back on short rest or keep him on his routine? ... I think he's one of the top pitchers in baseball. Cole Hamels can pitch any game for me that he wants. If it gets down to five games, we have a pretty good decision between him and Lee.
Andy Pettitte and Tom Glavine were the guys I emulated growing up ... ... They always pitched big games and won. Andy Pettitte has been very effective for a long time, and he's always the kind of guy I've looked at and hoped to one day be in his shoes. Now I'm going to face him in the World Series.

Every kid ... has a goal of pitching a World Series game in Yankee Stadium.
That's what I think Major League Baseball wants. They definitely want to see home runs ... That's what really attracts attention. Pitching 1-0 shutouts is not necessarily what Major League Baseball wants. They want to see 10-9 games, the big home run, the big grand slam.

This is what baseball really needed, and I think it’s what Major League baseball wanted ... I think the fans wanted to see this — with the caliber of players we have, the stage that we are with new York and Philly. This is going to be a very, very big series. It’s going to be probably the best for ratin...

We won the World Series last year, but we want to win it again ... We've done everything right to get there. We want to go to the next level.
I think everyone's dream is playing the World Series in Yankee Stadium
I love pitching in California
I think that’s kind of what I expected to start the season off ... and I think that’s what the fans expected me to do to go every game out there and throw eight shutout innings and all of a sudden be standing here right now holding the potential Cy Young. But that’s not the case.
We want to get to the World Series and win it, and that's all that matters ... It's not how much money we [the Phillies and MLB] can make in the process of playing this game.

I understand now what a difference I can make, the tone I can set when I win a postseason game ... It's a cool situation [getting another shot at Colorado]. They are just as hot as when we played them last time. They do a good job of getting hot late in the season.
