It will take a while to set in ... The truth is, with Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt and to respect this sport the way I do, to do something that has never been done is so awesome. I don't even know where to start. This is unbelievable.

I have come to realize that I'm not Dale Earnhardt ... And when you stand me up against Jeff Gordon ... it just don't stand up to it. I gave them something to shoot at in the race from time to time. He has raced and finished second to some of the all-time greats when they were in their prime, from Jeff Gordon to Dale Earnhardt. Has anyone [else] ever raced against that many champions in their prime and finished second? He would have to be considered one of the all-time greats.
You know, I just have exceeded I think my expectations. The race team has done everything that I knew that they could. I just didn't know, you know, if I could—I really didn't know if I could compete against Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. coming into this season, for sure.
We've still got to go to Homestead and run like this again, because we still have heat behind us, Jeff Gordon, especially ... I definitely have been beat by the best [for past championships] -- Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart and Dale Earnhardt. It wouldn't embarrass me if it was Jimmie Johnson as well.
We've still got to go to Homestead and run our best because you never know ... Realistically, we're battling for second. I definitely have been beat by the best for these Cup titles — Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart and Dale Earnhardt. It wouldn't embarrass me if it was Jimmie Johnson as well.
I definitely have been beat by the best — Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart (FSY) and Dale Earnhardt. It wouldn't embarrass me if it was Jimmie Johnson as well. As it turned out, I was wrong. And that was the one that I wanted to win and probably the most of all when I was young and when it looked like we were going to ... Since then, I have learned a lot, and I have seen a lot, and I have come to realize that I'm no Dale Earnhardt. My record don't stand up to ...
Richard Petty, Bobby Allison, Dale Earnhardt, Darrell Waltrip, all those guys, they respected each other.
The more rules, the more NASCAR is telling us how to drive the race cars, the less we can race and the less we can put on a show for the fans. As I said, I will go back in the day, Richard Petty, Bobby Allison, Dale Earnhardt, Darrell Waltrip, all those guys, they respected each other.
I raced against guys like Dale Earnhardt, Rusty Wallace, Harry Gant, and Richard Petty
Yeah, I think he's as good as Dale Earnhardt ... It's a different time and a different day and age. But had he been here with me when I was racing Dale Earnhardt in the early '90's for the title, I think Jimmie would have held his ground. In my opinion, it appears to me that he would have held his groun...
Had he been here with me when I was racing Dale Earnhardt in the early '90s for the title, I think Jimmie would have held his ground
I remember the late great Dale Earnhardt saying one time when a reporter asked him about all the wins and the championships, did he ever set out and planned to do all of that?
I remember standing there for the national anthem and I had tears in my eyes. Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt and Darrell Waltrip were all around me
It is truly an honor to see Dale Earnhardt recognized as one of the five most influential members of the NASCAR family and inducted in the first class of the NASCAR Hall of Fame
My father impacted many lives, and I know I speak on behalf of Dale Earnhardt fans everywhere in showing appreciation that his memory will live forever inside the walls of the NASCAR Hall of Fame
You had eight or 10 people that very much should have been in the first go-around ... I just looked at some of us later stars, if it hadn’t been for the Frances and a bunch of people that helped them, there wouldn’t have been a hall of fame, a Richard Petty, a Dale Earnhardt. … As far as I was concerned...
Of the many legendary accomplishments and accolades of his career. ... this is another defining moment ... It is the achievement of a lifetime and is celebrated by the millions of Dale Earnhardt fans around the world.
From now on, Dale Earnhardt's spirit will live on at Dale Earnhardt, Inc., and part of him will live at the NASCAR Hall of Fame ... Not only would he be proud of this day, he'd be proud to see the legacy of his race team competing for a championship with Juan Pablo Montoya.
I think common knowledge will tell you that Bill Sr., Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt are likely to be near-unanimous selections
I can't change my driving style -- at this point in my career, I can't change that ... I have a certain feel and a balance that I'm looking for out there in the car, versus Jimmie, Mark and [Dale Earnhardt] Junior [whose struggle this year has kept Gordon's results far from the bottom of the four-driver...
