In this age of instant gratification ... all these guys want to start, want to play. ... We wish they could all be like Darren Collison and wait a year for their turn.

The 19-year-old UCLA freshman center, already Pacific 10 Conference player of the year and first-team All-American, has also become a plain-speaking locker room leader unafraid to criticize veteran teammates for fouling out (Darren Collison) or not passing enough (Josh Shipp). He has even offered Coach Ben Howland advice (more touches, coach, give me more touches).
He made UCLA guard Darren Collison look really average, and he's a really special guy. [Rose] is the only guy where I'd say it's 1-on-2, 1-on-1 then one on none.
He said, somebody's telling me, we're an overachieving team, that Darren (Collison) and I are the only good players on the team and that we don't have that much talent ... But, in our defense, he also picked Pittsburgh to win the tournament. I respect him a lot. He's been around the game a long time. He has what, over 900 wins, something like that. But he's an analyst. That's what he's paid to do. I kinda disagree. We're out here on the West Coast. He's more of an East Coast, Southern guy. We're not paying any attention to that.
It's going to be, top to bottom, very difficult ... Will we have seven of the top 21 picks in this year's draft? Probably not, but we're going to have a lot of really good players again.
Those two big guys for sure have to contribute, because we're short handed in terms of numbers of bodies inside
We had great players in our league last year ... Last year is probably the best the league's ever been. I think the Pac-10 is going to be very competitive this year, with a lot of parity.
