David (Dave) Tippett (Born: August 25, 1961 in Moosomin, Saskatchewan) is a former left winger and head coach in the National Hockey League. Tippett is the 19th head coach of the Dallas Stars, since accepting the job on May 21, 2002. As head coach for the Dallas Stars, Tippet had a career record of 87–48–27. Tippett had a home record of 56–14–14 which currently ranks him fifth in the NHL for coaches with a minimum of 50 career home wins. At the close of the 2006–07 season, Tippett joined an exclusive group of NHL head coaches that have led their respective clubs to back-to-back 50-win campaigns. He joins Mike Babcock (Detroit Red Wings), Scotty Bowman (Montreal), Tom Johnson (Boston), Mike Keenan (Philadelphia), Glen Sather (Edmonton) and Fred Shero (Philadelphia). The Stars recently signed Tippett to a contract extension through the 2008/09 season.
