That was an experience, and I’m sure it will be the same way this year ... I’ve got a few Pitt-West Virginia stories but I haven’t gotten into it yet. I don’t want to start too early, but after we come back we’ll recount a few stories and refresh their memories.
Pitt senior guard John Malecki was one of the first players to commit to the Panthers from the recruiting class of 2006, but at the time he was an unheralded player at Franklin Regional High School, so his college decision didn't make a splash. Full Article at Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

The worst thing you can do in an emotional game like this is to start too early ... We just wanted to put in the physical work and mental work this week, and then we'll start gearing toward West Virginia beginning Sunday.
That was an experience, and I'm sure it will be the same way this year ... I've got a few Pitt-West Virginia stories but I haven't gotten into it yet. I don't want to start too early, but after we come back we'll recount a few stories and refresh their memories.
We’re happy where we’re at at this point ... but we know we have probably as tough a finish as anybody in the country in West Virginia and Cincinnati.
We've always been able to attract outstanding players from eastern Pennsylvania and all three of these players fit that bill
Any time you're talking about tying or breaking or even being talked about in the same sentence with a Tony Dorsett, you're a special player ... I think when you combine that with how he handled himself off the field and how he represented the University of Pittsburgh, I'm looking for LeSean McCoys ever...
I think that Jimmy Clausen is as good as any quarterback around
It might be the city of Pittsburgh ... Two years (with the Dolphins), we won 10 1/2 games a year and people were ready to run me out of town because we weren't winning Super Bowls. The Steelers, they won six, seven, nine with Bill Cowher and they gave him a contract extension, and a few years later he w...

The city of Pittsburgh loves its football, and we are looking forward to a great crowd Saturday night when we play Notre Dame ... I know firsthand, from recruiting here and at Southern Cal, that they can go into any state, any high school, anywhere, and they are going to be one of two or three schools recruiting a kid ... Whether it's California, New Jersey or Texas. There's no other place in the country that can really do that.
No, to be honest with you [the Notre Dame game] was nothing like playing West Virginia or playing Penn State
I thought we had a great week of preparation during the bye week ... We talked about the importance of this game that Syracuse was as capable of beating us as anybody.
It didn’t really change what they did offensively ... They were still trying to get the ball to (Marcus) Sales on the weak side. Obviously, from a talent and experience standpoint, Mike Williams is a great player.
We've got to go out there and approach it the same way that we have every other week ... If you look at the Pitt-Syracuse scores over the last 30-plus years, the deciding point difference in a lot of those games was about seven points.
I hope and believe that our players understand that this is a very big football game for us ... Syracuse is a very good football team and they have an outstanding defense. We're focused right now on our conference, on winning the Big East and this is a very big conference game for us.
Traditionally, Pitt-Syracuse has always been a back-and-forth game
Syracuse is a conference game, and it is a priority ... We used to talk in the NFL that, until this point, it's all talk whether you're a contender or a pretender. I think our guys now should get a taste that we could be a contender.
It's tough for the head coach to stand up and start screaming for his players to be a Heisman Trophy candidate ... Dion's numbers speak for themselves. When you look around at other running backs in the country, no one's been as productive as him. He's done it against very good competition.
Every team, every business organization and every community could benefit from having a person like LaRod ... He embodies what it means to be a leader, a student and athlete. The University of Pittsburgh and its football program are blessed to call him one of our own.
