We never got from the other side how they would structurally address the issues, what architectural forms they might have
It's not a tax cut, but tax reform that would create the kind of economic growth we need
We never really were able to get passed this issue of $1 trillion in tax increases
We don't have really any concrete steps to take forward... it'll move into the congressional arena and that's where we'll debating those issues now rather than in this committee of 12... I do think there are very different philosophies here
It is deeply regrettable that my Democrat colleagues could not see their way to addressing these much needed reforms without at least $1 trillion in job-killing tax increases on families and employers ... The failure of the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction is a serious disappointment.
I am pleased the President is signing into law another pro-jobs bill the Ways and Means Committee shepherded through Congress
