David Alexander Paterson (born May 20, 1954) is an American politician and the current Governor of New York. He is the first legally blind and the first black governor of New York. He is one of two black governors in the United States, the other being Deval Patrick of Massachusetts. For the first time in U.S. history, two black governors are serving concurrently.
