You may laugh, but that may be the best game I’ve pitched all year ... The game is easy when you can throw any pitch anywhere you want. But it’s gratifying knowing I didn’t have good stuff but still was able to hold that lineup to two runs.
You might laugh, but that was pretty much my best game
I don't think there's one answer ... I think it goes in waves. Maybe 10 years from now, the hitters will be back dominating. I think, instead of trying to put an answer to it, enjoy it. You have some really special pitchers in the game.
I think people are quick to say it's because they took steroids out of the game ... I'm not as sure about that. I don't think there's really one answer. Maybe the pitchers are just better.
This is the way I’ve always been ... You can call it goofy or whatever, but I know the time and place to get serious, too.
I’ve never let one year roll into the next
Obviously, he is not seeing the ball the same way
We won't be having this conversation when we see you guys next (in July), I promise you
I've thrown him the same breaking balls I did today, and [in the past] he would just watch them go by ... He's a little more aggressive swinging at pitches he normally doesn't swing at. He'll stop swinging at those, and then he'll dictate the count instead of the pitcher. We won't be having this convers...
He's swinging at pitches that he doesn't normally swing at ... I used to throw him breaking balls and he would just let them go by. Now he's swinging at them.
Obviously, he's not swinging the bat the same way
It was a good game ... Obviously, how we scored our first two runs, it was a big break, but we took advantage of it.
I feel bad for Ervin ... He pitched pretty good and got some bad luck.
I've never let one season flow over into the next ... I know the only way to be successful and win over six months is to have strong starting pitching. It's a fun gang to be part of.
Oh, my, they just cashed my check again. Sorry, guys ... The lights will be back on in a minute.
The good thing is there’s nothing you can’t replace
It was obviously a tough week ... Anytime you have something like that happen and not being there, it's tough. That's what law enforcement is there for. Major League Baseball knows about it. The good thing is there's nothing you can't replace. Luckily, no family members were there.

Any time you're pitching on the road in the other team's home opener, there's going to be a lot of excitement and a lot of buzz ... Our offense silenced them early. You can't ask for anything more as a starting pitcher.
Part of me was surprised that a lot of people would like a new stat ... Part of me wasn’t surprised, though, because quality starts does what no other stat does: it attempts to show how often a starting pitcher does his job in the bullpen era, which is to keep his team in the game and give them a chance...

I think a guy had a remote out in right, but we caught him
The start wasn't the best, but it's still hard to do - give up six hits on top of the two home runs and six walks, and they only scored two runs ... Try that! It's not easy.
It was a lot of non-competitive pitches
When you're pitching on the road in the other team's home opener, there's going to be a lot of buzz ... To sort of silence them right away, you can't ask for much more.
