Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin have been invited to attend the State Duma's first session. The leaders have not so far confirmed their attendance but parliament members and Duma staff nevertheless hope they'll arrive.
But we have to regulate it, otherwise we will face extreme criminal activity
President Dmitry Medvedev has just threatened to deploy on the EU's border
When we hear lectures in the worst traditions of the Cold War, it causes indignation ... We will not be intimidated.
My thanks to Dmitry Medvedev and to the United Russia party congress for choosing me and asking me to be the candidate for the post of Russia’s president ... Of couse, I gratefully accept this offer.
I do not agree with any slogans or statements made at the rallies. Nevertheless, instructions have been given by me to check all information from polling stations regarding compliance with the legislation on elections.
Dmitry Medvedev has become the chairman of the Asian Pacific Economic Cooperation Organization today. This position was previously taken by US President Barack Obama
In any case, taken the more complicated configuration of the Duma, we will have to enter in to coalitions and agreements (with other parties) on certain issues. This is normal, this is what parliamentarianism and democracy are about.
The latest failures [in the space industry] seriously harm Russia's competitiveness
The statement (about anti-missile defense) has no tactical or pre-election nature. This is a thoroughly considered statement
To be frank, I was forced (to make this statement)
Stop feeding the Caucasus? What will come of that? ... I remember the slogans -- stop feeding Central Asia, stop feeding Ukraine, stop feeding Belarus, the Baltic states. And what happened? Our country fell to pieces.
As I said on November 23, if our signal is ignored, we will use other means of defense including the adoption of tough countermeasures and the deployment of a strike group
Respected (NATO) friends! This radar system is not aimed at you ... The door for dialogue is not closed.
I hope this station will operate well and fulfill the tasks at hand
When we are told this is not against us, I would like to say the following: dear friends, the radar station that has started working today is not against you either.
We can't be satisfied with oral assurances that the system isn't aimed against Russia ... Regrettably, such oral statements don't guarantee the protection of our interests.
I hope that our partners will perceive this move as the first signal of our country's readiness to respond in kind to the threats, which the missile defense system poses for our forces
I expect that this step will be seen by our partners as the first signal of the readiness of our country to make an adequate response to the threats which the (Western) missile shield poses for our strategic nuclear forces
The European missile defence system that is currently being deployed ... creates significant problems for the security of the Russian Federation
We can no longer be satisfied with a common statement that the phased and adaptive AMD that is being put in place is not directed against Russia
When they tell us Âthis is not meant against you, I would like to say the following today  dear friends, this radar station that started its work today is also not meant against you. But it is meant for us and for the tasks that we set before us
If our signal is not heard, as I said on November 23, we will continue deploying other means of defence
This is the first signal of Russia's readiness for an adequate response to the threats posed by European AMD to our strategic nuclear forces.
