In the vast majority of cases, on the size of a single season, you're not going to have a lot of cases where a player's true-talent level drastically changes midseason. And you'd get better results for rookies—a day-by-day Marcels of, say, Evan Longoria is going to be very inaccurate to begin the season. 
You could see it brewing ... Those guys have some young players that are extremely talented -- guys like Evan Longoria and B.J. Upton playing like veterans, and pitchers like Scott Kazmir, who's been around enough and is going to be a force. I think they turned it around with how they pitched. You can see that their young talent there is a good foundation. They've pitched well and that's why it turned around so quick.
It is a really good time to be involved in the Rays organization ... If you are a minor league fan in Bowling Green, you want to see some pretty good baseball. You want to see talented players and be able to say you saw a guy like Evan Longoria. The Rays are a great team to follow right now because the organization is stacked and only getting better.
Maddon is hopeful of keeping his young core of talent together, but he knows it will be difficult holding onto Evan Longoria and B.J. Upton in a few years when they become eligible for free agency.
