We've known for a while that teams use the game to research certain players, whether to buy or to check out the opposition, but this formal recognition by a premiership team is fantastic and we are sure it will prove a fruitful one for the Everton FC 
It would be great to have the club in Liverpool still and it would also be superb to have Everton FC as the first football club people see as they drive around the town from the railway station or as they come in from the motorways
I hope that opening the door [to the group stage] can be very positive for our young players. At Standard we have to prepare for the future and it's better to plan for the future with difficult games in difficult conditions like we had against Everton, or against Liverpool [FC].
My first reaction was that I thought it was reckless. In my playing days I would have enjoyed tackling like that, but I think the referee got the big decisions right.
I think it's a pity because we had more chances to be top of the league and we drew some games
