I'm thankful that NHL has a huge number of young stars that are oozing with so much talent that it might actually make the game relevant again, and more than an after thought in the national landscape. (Sid Crosby, Alex Ovechkin, Evgeni Malkin, Patrick Kane ... I'm looking at you.)
The first unit had Evgeni Malkin back on the right point with Alex Goligoski on the left point, Sidney Crosby on the half-wall, Miroslav Satan down low and new addition Tyler Kennedy in front. The second unit had Kris Letang on the right point and Philippe Boucher on the left, with Jordan Staal, Matt Cooke and Petr Sykora up front
Nowadays, young players (in Russia) dream of playing in the NHL from the time they take their first steps in youth programs at 7 and 8. Everybody would like to go to the NHL and play like (Alexander) Ovechkin and (Evgeni) Malkin
The second goal was the only one where I thought we might have faulted with [Alexander] Semin coming down low instead of staying high with [Evgeni] Malkin ... I don't think the penalty killing has been anywhere near as bad it can be portrayed numbers-wise this early in the season.
Unless the NHL admits that automatic voting has skewed the results we will not watch the NHL All-Star Game and we encourage you to spread the word.
Q—You joined Nick Bonino at San Jose Sharks development camp this past summer. What did that experience do for you? A—I thought it was a great experience just to see the guys that played in the NHL and what they do on a day-to-day basis to get themselves in the position that they are in. It was definitely a learning experience that I felt helped me become a better player.
Kyle has been a tremendous professional through this ... We're trying to do what's right for him, so we'll see what the next few days brings.
