I commend Joe ... He gives us an opportunity to play. I won a World Series with a tam (the Florida Marlins) in '97 where everybody played.
That's going to add a $25 million economic impact right there ... That impact would not be around if it were not for the Florida Marlins. We're working nonstop. We need to get these documents done and this lawsuit behind us so we can move forward with all the exciting things that come with building a stadium.
We're proud to be associated with the Florida State League scholarship and the Florida Marlins part in that
The beauty of the South Florida market is we do have a mix of all kinds of fans ... I don't like it when people say South Florida is not a great baseball market. I think it is. We have a developing Marlins fan base.
You look at our good young pitching, you think you’re going to have a chance ... Some of our young hitters, though, have surprised us. They’ve come on faster than we had any reason to expect. I guess you could say there’s luck involved. You get the right people, you put them in position to succeed and they do – sure, some people would call that luck.
Larry and the front office have made real solid trades under tough circumstances ... When you trade really good people, you need special guys back. They’ve gotten those guys back almost every time. That’s what happens when you have an ownership group that listens, that’s involved, but doesn’t think it’s smarter than its baseball people. Mistakes get made, but they don’t let it stop them the next time. They let baseball people make baseball decisions.
They’re not afraid to take high school kids ... There’s a high risk there with kids so young, but there can be a high reward, too.
