Heading into Thursday's health care summit, President Obama's job approval numbers are steady if unspectacular in the latest data out of Gallup. Over the past week, Obama's job approval sat at 49 percent -- numbers virtually unchanged in Gallup surveys conducted over the past three months.
A new Gallup poll found that 44 percent of Americans would vote for President Obama in 2012, while 42 percent would vote for a Republican candidate. If you are wondering about the other 14 percent, let’s just say Bieber fever has gotten a little out of control.
hats off to Rusty Weiss at News Busters who pointed out that back in February, when the Gallup poll showed enormous support for the stimulus package, the same guy, Robert Gibbs, was delighted to flap that as proof for what a great policy he had.
The 50% approval figure has been a strong predictor of an incumbent president’s re-election: presidents who averaged 50% or better from January of an election year through Election Day have all been re-elected ... This includes George W. Bush, who averaged 51% in 2004, though his approval rating was 48%...
Among the Group of Twenty (G-20) members, approval of U.S. leadership changed significantly in 16 of 17 countries where Gallup collected data before and after the Obama administration took office early last year. In 15 of these countries, approval ratings increased substantially, with increases of 39 po...
Perceptions of U.S. leadership worldwide improved significantly from 2008 to 2009. The U.S.-Global Leadership Project, a partnership between the Meridian International Center and Gallup, finds that a median of 51% of the world approves of the job performance of the current leadership of the U.S., up fro...
The closeness of the two parties over the past several months on this ‘generic ballot’ measure is similar to that found in most Gallup readings from 1994 through 2005 (spanning the period when Republicans won control of the U.S. House and subsequently maintained it for more than a decade)
Gallup asks those who are employed whether their companies are hiring workers and expanding the size of their labor forces, not changing the size of their workforces, or laying off workers and reducing the number of employees they have ... The Job Creation Index reports the net difference between the pe...
Gallup asked Americans about the president's handling of the situation in Iran for this first time in this survey. Obama has recently been involved in a decision to establish a greater presence of American guided missiles -- using Navy ships and land-based capabilities -- around Iran. At this point, 42%...
Obama's real aim was to portray Republicans as obstructionist and boost his own public standing in the process ... Afterward, Gallup found that Obama's approval hit 51 percent, up from 47 percent after the State of the Union address. ... But in winning that small victory, Obama also further poisoned his...
consumer surveys show that consumers consider animal welfare when making purchasing decisions and are often willing to switch to animal-free products. For example, according to recently published Gallup poll data, a sizeable and significant percentage of Americans find that buying or wearing animal fur ...
Going into President Obama's first State of the Union speech, Gallup noted that annual speeches to Congress rarely affect presidential approval ratings (in large part because the audience tends to be skewed toward those who already support him). It turns out that despite his oratorical skills, our curre...
These results are unsurprising and track with earlier polling, including Gallup, and, most recently, a poll conducted by Rasmussen indicating that the majority of Americans are opposed to funding abortions in the health care bill.
Gallup: The 65 percentage-point gap between Democrats' (88%) and Republicans' (23%) average job approval ratings for Barack Obama is easily the largest for any president in his first year in office, greatly exceeding the prior high of 52 points for Bill Clinton.
The latest USA TODAY/Gallup Poll puts his standing at 50%-45%, lower than any post-World War II president starting his second year in office except Ronald Reagan, who was at 49%.
When Barack Obama was inaugurated one year ago Wednesday, his approval rating in the Gallup Poll was a lofty 67%-14%
Gallup poll found that 51% of Americans describe themselves as pro-life, while only 42% describe themselves as pro-choice
One of the things to remember is that two polls - a Gallup poll and a Pew Poll - have shown that the majority of Americans are pro-life, and the vast majority want some restrictions on abortion
While we were sleeping ... the pro-life side organized a cultural campaign. A recent Gallup poll showed that for the first time more than half of the country identifies itself as pro-life. They have an unpaid multitude of soldiers and they're more revved up; they think it's murder, so of course they're ...
A majority of Americans say President Obama and congressional Democrats should suspend work on the health care bill that has been on the verge of passage and consider alternatives that would draw more Republican support, a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll finds
Just last May, a Gallup poll found 2009 to be the first year that a majority of U.S. adults openly identified themselves as ‘pro-life’ on the issue of abortion, and even in the midst of this liberal-controlled Congress and radically pro-abortion White House, I have never been so hopeful for the future o...
And most recently, through my work at the New Mexico Coalition to End Homelessness (NMCEH) I have been developing new, green affordable housing units in Santa Fe, Gallup, Albuquerque, and Las Vegas.
Obamaâs favorability rating has been in flux, from a peak of 72 percent last March to a slide to 61 percent in a recent Gallup Poll.
Throughout the year [1982] a solid majority of Gallup's respondents have taken the position that Reaganomics will worsen, rather than improve their own financial situation. Yet, Gallup consistently has found somewhat more public faith that Reaganomics will help the nation as a whole and even more faith ...
