View Photo »I am not someone who would be hesitant to take the responsibility. I will be the first one to accept it. If you want to be number one, you have to perform well and start winning overseas, whether England, South Africa or Australia.
Let me make it very clear, you might get a replacement for MS Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir, but you won't find Tendulkar, Dravid and Laxman's replacements. That's why I am saying that people in charge of the game are laughing their way to bank rather than addressing the key issues.
We have let the entire nation down and I will be the first one to accept it. There is a backlash which is happening back home and we are ready to accept it. We have given the opportunity to people (to criticise us). We haven't played good cricket and not lived up to the expectations, given the batting l...
Even if the selectors want to make a change, they don't have an alternative. Gautam Gambhir is also failing. The selectors don't intend dropping all the seniors and handing the captaincy to, say, a Virat Kohli.
It is disappointing but the mood is absolutely fine
There were three soft dismissals of Parthiv Patel, Gautam Gambhir and Suresh Raina. We have to bat really well in coming games. There is no excuse for anybody to not scoring runs.
I am not someone who will hesitate to take responsibility
We always knew it was going to be challenging ... it's a tough place to play cricket
There was a lot of expectation from us on this tour ... the kind of batting we have, we've let the entire nation done
But one good day and one good session could change it all. There's a lot of cricket left in this series. We are not even midway through. If we do well in Adelaide and take the momentum forward, we could make the difference (in the T20 and One-day Internationals)
Ultimately, I have always believed that a captain is only as good as his team
Hopefully we can turn things around in Adelaide (and) put some smile on the faces of the people back home
We have not played well. If you want to be number 1 we have to start winning series. Whatever backlash is happening back home, we accept it. We have let the nation down. Hopefully we can turn it around
He has taken two five-wicket hauls in this series and has a great future ahead
It's the BCCI and captain's (MS Dhoni) decision. There are times they go in your favour and there are times when they don't go in your favour. It goes both ways
There's nothing to be heartbroken about
The better you are prepared, the better you do on tours. It was seen in South Africa. Some of the guys went early and prepared well and we had a great Test series in SA ... It's always good if players can go early and get acclimatised to the conditions. If the Board decides some players need to go early...
The team members are not thinking much about Sachin's 100th hundred. The West Indies have set a very big target and it is important to save the follow on and in that course if Sachin gets his 100th ton it's good
That's what Test cricket is all about. You don't get a five-wicket haul or a hundred easily. You have to work hard for it
The team members are not thinking much about Sachin's 100th hundred, but what the team requires at this moment. The West Indies have set a very big target and it is important to save the follow on and in that course if Sachin gets his 100th ton it's good
