This was impressive to see, for me and for the team
Every day in practice Coach (Geno Auriemma) is saying that our post game really needs to step up ... I’ve been working hard and trying to do what the coaches ask me to do.
It was really good to see us come out and start the game the way we did ... We were able to get out and run a little bit and our pressure worked right away and I think all five starters for sure were really in sync. There was a real good chemistry among them. There was a lot of energy.
I’m thankful that for the first time in a long time, the world paused to care about the NCAA women’s basketball championship game and Pat Summitt and Geno Auriemma had nothing to do with it. On another note, I’m also thankful Mike Bianchi dressed up in a twitter bird costume this summer.
That’s one of the things we’ve really been preaching ... Is to kind of sustain whatever we’ve been doing. Don’t let it kind of dissipate as it has I think at other times.
There are all these agreements within the conferences that game film isn’t sent out to non-conference teams
You hear about some of the other teams that we play, and some of those games are unavoidable ... I don’t think there is anyone out there we haven’t played. The more we expose ourselves to a schedule like that, the better the program, the better our players get.
She slipped and fell down ... In this day you want to be careful with these things.
There were some times we played them when they were just way bigger, more athletic ... They took advantage of those things and had a lot more offensive players back then. I think that's the difference I see right now. I see they don't have as many offensive players as they used to have.
You have to change gears pretty quickly
Four games in eight days, this will be a good week for us ... I want to see how they come out of this. I am pretty happy with where we are right now but it starts to get pretty serious now, it's downhill. It's a bobsled from now until the end of March.
This Saturday/Monday thing, there is just no way to get around it
She is frustrating, so frustrating, just frustrating, it is the only thing I can tell you is that she is frustrating because she is really, really good ... I am tying to instill in her what it takes to play at this level and I don't want to reward a mediocre and even less of an effort. 'This is what I d...
We tried doing the same things we always do, trying to pick up full court pressure and Villanova isn’t an easy team to press and trap against ... But once we got the pressure deep into their backcourt, I think we unsettled them.
She's been struggling a little bit
I'm old enough to know when we said it in school. I think we said it right before we hid under our desk in case of nuclear attack
You want to know how life will be different without Maya Moore this year?
That's the strength of our team ... We have a bunch of guards with a certain skill level that translates well with full-court stuff. They are good with the ball in the open floor, and we're a pretty good shooting team. It's an appropriate way to play for this particular team.
She landed on her hip and then her shoulder and then her head and she just had a headache ... By the end of the game she was fine.
I am old enough to remember when we said it in school. We'd say it right before we'd hide under our wooden desks in case a nuclear attack came.
We came out with high intensity and got our hands in passing lanes ... Kelly [Faris], Tiffany [Hayes], they all do a good job of rotating and getting those steals.
Everyday she's getting better and better
She has tremendous confidence in herself as a shooter. And we keep feeding that. She's very smart, knows how to play and just has that knack for the game that some great players can never achieve.
