View Photo »If I want to get Antawn off, just like I did in Cleveland, I just do pick-and-roll. If I want to get Randy the ball, I just call two plays. If I need Mike Miller to shoot, I call the play. Certain people just need certain plays. That's the easy part, but they're telling me to be in attack mode while get...
We're helping each other ... Whether it's Gilbert Arenas or Paul Pierce or Dwyane Wade or Chris Bosh, it's a collective effort. Whereas in the past you kind of felt like you were on an island.
If I want to get Antawn off, just like I did in Cleveland, I just do pick-and-roll. If I want to get Randy the ball, I just call two plays. If I need Mike Miller to shoot, I call the play. Certain people just need certain plays. That's the easy part, but they're telling me to be in attack mode while get...
He's gonna get it ... He's Gilbert Arenas. He's gonna get it.
The NBA's a ship. It's going to keep moving. Teams are not waiting for us ... As the captain, I've got to steer my ship. If I've got to steer it to land until everybody wants to jump on, then I'm going to do it. . . . And we'll see who comes and follows. If nobody wants to follow, then the boat's just g...
You have to make a decision: Are you going to let him shoot? Are you going to let Gilbert Arenas drive? Are you going to let guys like myself and Caron get dunks? You've got to make your decision, and tonight they decided to let him shoot. And that was the wrong decision.
They've got so many jumpers where they can go small and get rebounds still. So, that's an advantage for them ... Keep the lane spread open while Kevin Durant, Westbrook and Green just attack the rim with no big. That's just what they did to try to keep Brendan out of the game.
Down to one healthy point guard, the Washington Wizards signed 11th-year veteran Earl Boykins on Wednesday to back up Gilbert Arenas while the club waits for the healthy return of three other players at that position. ‘Earl is a proven veteran point guard who will provide us with leadership and stabilit...
I mean, I'm 27 now. I'm not the entertainer anymore ... I just want to play. I don't have a blog. I don't have a Twitter. When I was blogging and playing, all you guys focused on was my words. I'd just rather be focused, cut the gimmick out and play basketball.
I'm never going to be an NBA superstar ... but I wanted to see how I matched up. I saw Gilbert Arenas play (for the Washington Wizards) the other night and realized: He guarded me a couple months ago.
At the beginning of the season we lost eight straight and were one-and-something ... Then Earl came and gave us that extra spark for the season. You could see it in the first game against San Antonio. We were hanging in against good teams. Then you see Earl and you pick up on what he does.
You’re not going to stop a guy like Gilbert Arenas ... You just want to make a guy like that work. I thought he did a solid job of making Gilbert work.
He's been playing fabulous since [Antawn Jamison] went down ... He's been waiting for this for four years now. He finally decided this year was the year. He's been working and it's showing.
You can work on so many things, and there are variable factors with guys like Steve Nash or Gilbert Arenas. But there's the unpredictable. You're not really sure what's going to happen. He turns the corner, gets in the paint, he's very athletic and he looks as quick and as explosive as he did three year...
I'm starting up another chapter in my NBA career ... We'll see how it goes.
They have a dynamic, healthy player, Gilbert Arenas, who can take your plans and effectively throw them out of the window, a little bit like what we saw with Steve Nash last night
Besides my high school coach and Lute Olson, [Flip's] the only one I actually had conversations with in a one-on-one way. It surprised me.
Guys aren't just lining up on isolations, so it's a lot easier in this offense. You look at the system that the coach had in Washington ... Look at Gilbert Arenas. Everybody knows that Gilbert's going to get his buckets. If you try to say, 'Gilbert, don't shoot. Try to get assists,' you're going to pige...
It was the psyche ... He had three plates on there, and I'm sitting there like, I don't know who you think this is, I'm not Dwyane Wade. He told me, if you can get six good ones, and I ended up getting 10. Thats when I started playing, getting into the league. Started and my first game was 47 points, al...
Congratulations! You get to go into the mind of me, Gilbert Arenas, of the Washington Wizards. Good luck.
When he plays to his level, he is not quite as good as LeBron and Dwyane Wade ... but he's not that far behind. ... If Gilbert Arenas can play to his former level, the Wizards will make the playoffs. If he can't, God help them.
You'd be a fool to forget how good they used to be ... Gilbert Arenas is one of the most explosive scorers in the league and they've had to play without him for basically the last two years.
They're a deep team and one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference now ... Just getting Gilbert Arenas and Brendan Haywood back [from injuries] puts them in an entirely different light. Then you add Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison and Mike Miller and Randy Foye to that with the young guys like [JaVa...
It's too early to say he looks like the same Gilbert Arenas, but I'm happy with what he's done ... He's being a leader on and off the court and that's something we need more than his 30 points a game. That leadership is key.
Gilbert Arenas has the faces of Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, Jr., Barack Obama and Malcolm X tattooed across his leg which forms what he has dubbed ‘Black Rushmore.’
