In the event, Graeme McDowell, Ian Poulter, Lee Westwood and Padraig Harrington were all left stranded when Miguel Angel Jimenez conceded the Cup-winning putt to Jim Furyk ... Faldo can argue as much as he likes that his team nearly reached the point where those players could show their class. It is irrelevant. You simply can’t take the risk that warriors like Harrington and Westwood will be taken out of the equation.
I chatted with Paddy ... He knew what he was doing with his schedule. I'm very pleased with the guys who played last week [Robert Karlsson won in Cologne and Miguel Angel Jiménez, Soren Hansen and Graeme McDowell were all in the top 20] and the others have stayed well oiled, which was one of my requests.
I'm not sure quite why it is ... but the team game definitely appeals to us as a nation and it definitely appeals to me.
Physically, I'm probably not all there, but mentally, definitely - if last week was 11 out of 10 then I'm five out of 10 this week.
