View Photo »a blow to British hopes, as Emily Blunt, Carey Mulligan, Helen Mirren and the much-fancied Colin Firth went home empty-handed.
Everybody looks so beautiful. Rain or shine, it's unbelievable. I mean, it's funny, 'cause I think you don't get over celebrities as a collective ... You know, now I'm over [fellow Globe nominee] George [Clooney]. He's a guy to me. He's just the guy that teases me mercilessly, but everybody else ... I j...
Honestly, being here tonight [is an honor] ... Helen Mirren actually said this really lovely thing about being in the nomination bubble and how it ends tonight or it ends tomorrow whether you win or lose. So I'm just happy to be here and enjoy being in the bubble.
I'm incredibly lucky to be named in a category with people I admire like Helen Mirren and Sandra Bullock.
Helen Mirren (nominated for 'The Last Station') is a more mature woman, but she has no bones about wearing something revealing, even low-cut ... Meryl Streep, also a nominee ('It's Complicated' and 'Julie & Julia'), tends to veer toward a more simplistic look. She's never overly done.
I’m looking at an ad for Helen Mirren and Christopher Plummer in The Last Station
This is your life Helen Mirren!
Streep isn’t the only actress of her generation to emerge as a mature sex symbol ... Helen Mirren and Susan Sarandon have long oozed sensuality on the big screen. Still, Streep is the market leader, so to speak—and in her case, this late-blossoming aspect of her career feels like something of a personal...
The Helen Mirren thing was as good as TV gets
When Daniels flashes back to Precious’s horrifying rapes, the wide-angle close-ups of her father’s heaving body, and of fried chicken sizzling on the stove, feel like outtakes from one of Rudy Ray Moore’s outré blaxploitation farces (or from Daniels’s own risible, little-seen debut feature, Shadowboxer,...
I met Helen Mirren tonight and I was so excited, I couldn't believe it — the genius Helen Mirren!
And it's frustrating, because arguably, Helen Mirren is known in this country because of 'Prime Suspect,' and we took that in the very first instance when people [in the U.S.] didn't really know who she was, and built it up and built up the franchise and gave her visibility
I liked the film ... The actors are perfect. And the music is beautiful. It's terribly difficult to make a movie about the last years of his life; you have to be very precise and delicate. Helen Mirren doesn't resemble Sofya at all, but her performance is brilliant.
I think Helen Mirren, Judi Dench and Janet Suzman look fabulous, full stop. I hate the way people qualify 'you look good' by adding 'for your age'. I am on a campaign against that.
She's probably as good as Kate Winslet and even Helen Mirren
I see it now as the end of the pre- 9/11 world ... I remember sailing back to Manhattan on the ferry past the Twin Towers and there was Kate Moss, and Helen Mirren and Natasha Richardson, and we were standing on the side of the boat and a big cold wave came and just whooshed over us.
None of us knew much about 'The Last Station,' so it was a surprise that it hit across the board. Then again, when you have two great actors like Helen Mirren and Christopher Plummer, you can't be that shocked, can you?
