Janis Joplin, the Grateful Dead, all did benefits for our clinic, and why is there this great museum in Cleveland and not in San Francisco where it all happened?
Well, if it was my perfect line-up, it’d have to be something like Parliament Funkadelic, Betty Davis (she had so much confidence), Janis Joplin, Ben Harper (I love him), D’Angelo and, obviously, Led Zepp.
She was the one who put the good music in my hands, as in The Beatles and Janis Joplin and Led Zeppelin and all that
I understand she had 10 million votes on the show ... She has this amazing Janis Joplin voice.
I don't write bubblegum pop. Even if I write something that's poppy I always try to do something with integrity and that's real and has heart. We did a cool record. It has a little bit of a wink to it, but it's smart. To me, she's like the new Janis Joplin or Pat Benetar.
