We're solidly on track to create or save 3.5 million jobs by the time this program winds down ... There's a lot more ammunition in that Recovery Act. The stimulus package is absolutely working, both in GDP (gross domestic product) terms and in terms of saving or creating jobs.

Just 10 days before taking office, Obama’s top economic advisers [Christina Romer & Jared Bernstein] released a report predicting unemployment would remain at eight percent or below through this year if an economic stimulus plan won congressional approval.

The great American job creation machine simply hasn't been generating enough jobs to absorb or offset what was really the greatest, deepest recession since the Great Depression
We don't think the unemployment rate has peaked yet, but we're close
Until we start bringing down the unemployment rate, until we start chipping away at those millions of unemployed people, until we start providing them with the jobs, the wages, the incomes, the hope, the opportunity that the vice president had in his mind when he was referring to…that dynamic, our work ...
