How ironic is this that we go on this (winless) streak and we end it here at Texas, a place that just eluded us for so long
And I knew how to beat them. I look at today's racers and I know I can beat the crap out of a guy like Jeff Gordon, the Busch brothers, and Jimmie Johnson. Those guys don't stand a chance against me at all!
Every time, it evolves because the drivers continue to push what the car is capable of and what the drivers are capable of ... I thought there were no-bump zones or something like that, but the reason why that’s happening is because NASCAR is allowing the cars to push one another through the corners. Un...
Now, should I eventually win the Cup, this may be the most satisfying accomplishment of my career. Why, because I’ll have defeated a field including Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Kurt Busch, all former Cup champions, as well as Mark Martin, the greatest driver never to have won a Cup. To me, it’s a true ‘L...
I thought there were no-bump zones ... The reason why that is working and happening is NASCAR is allowing the cars to push one another through the corners. Until they crack down on that you're going to see it come down to two guys locking up together and pushing one another and then trying to figure out...
If I had Jeff Gordon’s or Jimmie Johnson’s success there, then I would be comfortable going there. I just haven’t had any success there yet
I don't think there is anybody in the garage area that wouldn't like to see Mark Martin win it as a sentimental favorite
I hope Montoya knows that it wasn’t my fault ... If he wants a scapegoat, he need look no further than Jeff Gordon. He’s the slow poke that’s responsible for my ‘slow poke.’ Juan’s a first-timer in the Chase. He’ll learn that not everything works in your favor, unless you’re Jimmie Johnson. In ten races...
A lot of times it's tough, it's very competitive and it's frustrating ... When you get beat it's because of the way the competition is driving one another. NASCAR hasn't always been like Formula One or Indy cars where you're up against your teammate. Your performance is driven by your teammate and there...
Cristiano Ronaldo, he's just exciting. He's got that little arrogance that's funny. Just unbelievable to watch. (MLB?) Derek Jeter. Complete player, just like his style. (NFL?) Peyton Manning. (Golf/Tennis?) Tiger, Roger Federer. (Boxing?) I always liked (Mike) Tyson. (NASCAR?) The only one I know is Je...
We were just trying to make it interesting because nobody else seemed to be able to do that for the 48, and we certainly couldn’t on that last run ... It was a great day for the DuPont/Pepsi Chevrolet. We really fought hard all day and all weekend to get ourselves in that position.
I was (a star) in the 1980s and 90s, with Jeff Gordon and Dale Jarrett and Terry Labonte ... I expect when those names start rolling around, I'll fit in there somewhere.
We got a little bit behind in New Hampshire. We've got to make sure that's the worst finish that we have in the Chase ... That's the only chance that we have, and that's asking a lot, but that's now our goal. It's the position we put ourselves in.
Oh, my God, I’m sitting in the seat that Jeff Gordon sat in
California was a track earlier in the year where I felt like we let one slip away ... And I'm hoping that we can get that one back the next time we go.
Twenty-four goals ... That's my favorite number because of (NASCAR driver) Jeff Gordon. I've liked him since I was little.
If we can just do it another seven weeks, man, I'll be happy with that ... Right now, we've got to focus on our team and our program and our finishes and we can't control what those guys do or Greg Biffle or Tony Stewart or any of them. We got a little bit behind at New Hampshire and we've got to make s...
The great thing about going to tracks like Williams Grove (Pa.) and Eldora (Speedway in Ohio, which Stewart owns) and Knoxville is there's people out there every week that have the potential to be the next Jeff Gordon or Tony Stewart or Carl Edwards
We've got to capitalize on the tracks that are good for us ... We got a little bit behind at New Hampshire. We have to make that our worst finish in the Chase.
And Jeff Gordon was known as ‘Boy Wonder,’ then what does that make me? Well, I’m 50, so you could call me ‘Captain Numerical.’ And, since Jimmie and I seem to be the only two drivers with a chance to win the Cup, does that make us members of the 'Just Us League?’
All we can do is just go try to turn things around this weekend in Kansas ... And we know that if those guys continue the way that they are, we have got to win to gain points on them.
I’ll put my hand up to try to help out ... Every lap I get gives me an advantage. I’m behind Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson by about eight seasons, nine seasons, maybe more. I’ve got a lot of catching up to do. Any chance to get in one of these cars helps me.
We have to live up to our full potential ... We were a second-, third-place car last week at Dover. We didn't finish there, so Jimmie Johnson and the 48 team, by far, they had the best car, the best team, and they won.
