We could have been DOA (dead on arrival) when they found him in that car park. I still get goose bumps when people speak to me about Travis, with how close that call was to being a different call. To think the AFL plays Russian roulette with people's lives, to me, is wrong.

When Geoff Lord nominated himself, I was surprised that he was standing. Surprised he was standing without the public support or the backing of any Hawthorn identity, and was standing to officiate and lead a Board that has expressed its confidence in another candidate
It was unlikely Geoff Lord was ever going to win this contest. Our members have long memories of the days of his presidency and the failure of the club financially that led to merger talks in 1996
Having triggered the election process, Geoff Lord has not even had the courage and decency to see it through until completion
