I know our players are excited. I'm really proud of how the team finished the year, winning three out of the last four. Whatever bowl game we're playing in, we're going to be excited.
It helps, going to bowl games
That's a great honor for Mychal
It's a huge part of it ... For 10 years here we've been showing them pictures. Now it's nice to know we can actually walk kids through a facility that is up to speed with your competitors. No question, that's a focal point when they come on campus.
I think Mike would be the first to admit he couldn't have done it without his teammates. But he's worked very hard, and people recognize he's somebody you have to pay attention to He's taking classes somewhere to help his academic situation
He's been the backbone of our defense
For 10 years here, we've been showing (recruits) pictures of things that are going to come ... It's nice that we can now walk kids through a facility that's up to speed with our competitors.
We talk about Zach maturing, but I think Isi has really done well that way, and so has C.J.
To come on the road and travel on a short week and stay focused with what we're doing, I thought it was a great week for us — a great win
It's a huge challenge to play against that team because they are so explosive throwing the football ... Even though we gave up some big plays, we stiffened up when we needed to.
He's practiced really well ... He had an excellent camp for us. He earned the time to be in there.
I am really proud of our guys the way they continued to battle
I have no idea how the bowl picture is going to play out ... More than that, it's about how we finished the season. Through the second half of the season our guys played very, very well.
That's part of the motivation
We talked about that early in our team meeting
It’s the last game in our conference and for us to finish strong and improve maybe on where we’re going
You expect him to be a year better
I think that's the way recruiting is, especially when people commit really, really early and it's kind of an emotional decision, and then as recruiting goes on they take other visits and they see other things and people, change their mind
The competitive instincts he had and the passion he played with was awesome ... I think he's going to be a great player. He was cramping up in the game in his hips, and he kept fighting and fighting.
I'm happy for all these guys ... All of them are really, really happy. It's gratifying to me for the reason that they entrusted their careers to come to Cal to see their dreams come true.
We played hard, but we lost our discipline with our eyes sometimes in the backfield ... They snuck some of their tight ends out with play-action and got some guys free.
All along we knew he's capable of playing well, and he's showed signs all year long of that ... But I think it does give him confidence that if he keeps preparing and practicing hard, he could be an effective quarterback in this conference.
We played well, but not well enough to win ... Turnovers, a couple fumbles, things like that hurt us. But again, we kept fighting. That last drive, we got back down there and put it in the end zone.
