View Photo »I was more concerned with the evolution of Mike Pelfrey, John Maine and Oliver Perez ... I think at their best -- when I've seen them in the time that I've been here at their best -- they've been under Dan Warthen. And I think we have to get back to them being their best.
Felipe and that group of guys – which now Pete Mackanin is one of my coaches and last year with Jerry Manuel (with the Mets) – that's where I think I developed myself as a player
I think that the question is, the real question is, will David Wright come back and be the home run hitter he is? ... I mean that's the only one we had to really be able to evaluate in this particular park and say 'Hey, could've had this amount of home runs. We didn't. ... How did that affect him in goi...

With his speed and range, it would have been exciting to watch him perform there [at Citi Field] on a daily basis
Jerry Manuel traveled Tuesday from his home in Sacramento, Calif., to gauge whether Mejia may be able to help the Mets in the bullpen in early 2010.
David Wright is usually a guy that, 99 out of 100, came to battle every day despite what was around him, what he was going through, fatigue, the struggles that he had, not having much protection in the lineup ... He just was the only guy there for a while, and to not necessarily fall short but to flinch...
I hate to have my team worry about Jerry Manuel rather than the Philadelphia Phillies. It'll probably be important to get off to a good start.
All that depends on the makeup of the rest of the team ... If you have a team where run production and pitching continues to be an issue, you have to balance that out. But what [Santos] has done is he has played extremely well for us for a period of time. How that would manifest itself over the course o...
Howard Johnson, Dan Warthen and Bullpen Coach Randy Niemann will return to Jerry Manuel’s staff in the same positions next year.
I like the way Daniel Murphy is swinging the bat
I heard that [manager Jerry Manuel] was going to take me out of the rotation ... I’m glad he gave me another shot.
That's a question that has to be given a lot of thought -- and not only by myself, but with the organization ... It'll have to be something that will have to be entertained at the organizational meetings -- the price of trying to advance people and develop people on the stage of New York. It's something...
He's probably the guy that we're looking the most at as far as a guy that can be transitional ... Bobby Parnell has relieved for us and has done a good job, and we're actually kind of struggling in that area. Every time we seem to get the eighth-inning guy, something happens.
