And yet there I was, falling for Warfe’s literary trickery, and for the very first time I was actually terrified of Alex being benched. My fears can be traced back to two primary causes, the first being Jim Harbaugh’s character. Harbaugh’s first big...
Last year the 49ers were a defense-led team which relied on kicking field goals. The talent is good enough in San Francisco for Peyton Manning to score touchdowns on a consistent basis opposed to just scraping by. Cons: Jim Harbaugh has a brilliant...

He is a phenomenal route runner with great hands and size to be the No. 1 receiver the 49ers so desperately crave. At 28, Colston still has four to five years of elite production, giving the 49ers a long term solution at receiver. Colston isn't flashy...
We saw the importance of a solid return man in the playoffs, but it remains to be seen if the 49ers will pay any sort of premium for Ginn. If you were Trent Baalke, Jim Harbaugh and Brad Seely (special teams coordinator) how would you handle Ginn's...

However, the other routes San Francisco could go would be free agency where someone like Carl Nicks would be available. Also, if the 49ers missed out on Nicks and Snyder, they could trade up for Stanford's David DeCastro in the first round. Whatever...
The once putrid NFC West division isn’t so putrid anymore. Once a stomping ground for underwhelming coaches, the NFC West now boasts some of the top coaches in the entire NFL. Pete Carroll has done a tremendous job in Seattle and appears to be just...

It became evident that the Giants were playing harder and just executing better and played as a team
And what Jim has done with the 49ers is really remarkable, because people didn't think this was a good team... he has a quarterback who people have written off as a bust. But Jim Harbaugh has gotten everything he can out of Alex Smith. He's a very smart coach, and a very good inspirer of men.
In terms of having the game here, that is an advantage for us
Started at middle linebacker and recorded a team-high seven tackles. He also had an interception, three passes defensed and one forced fumble. ... His forced fumble of Beanie Wells was initially ruled down by contact, but Willis urged coach Jim Harbaugh to throw the challenge flag. ... Called for unnece...
It was a tremendous block, the stride, the beauty of the arm action, the leg cycle, the speed ... To me it was like barbed wire getting rolled up anything in its path kind of just gets collected.
Jim Harbaugh talked about quarterback play, and he has done a great job getting the best out of Alex Smith, giving him these throws that he is confident he can make.
The question is, 'Does the team realize that it doesn't matter what you did or what you proved?' ... You might have proved it a thousand times before, but now you're proving it again. That's the challenge.
The problem here is bigger than the quarterback. The Cardinals have lost five consecutive games to the 49ers, outscored 132-45 in the process. Even when Kurt Warner was leading the charge, some Cardinals coaches felt the 49ers' physicality got under his skin, negatively affecting his play. That's obviou...
They added (Chase) Blackburn, who is playing very well ... They've got another linebacker back, and that has really fortified that group, and that group is really playing at a high level. They're much different than the team that we played earlier.
If I ever do root in a game, it’s always for the team that’s playing harder ... And it became evident that the Giants were playing harder and just executing better. And (they) played as a team.
I don’t really root. It’s almost like, ‘be careful what you wish for,’ ... If I ever do root in a game, it’s always for the team that’s playing harder. And it became evident that the Giants were playing harder and just executing better and played as a team. And you know, that’s a formidable opponent. Th...
I would anticipate, against the team we're about to play, you have to do a better job offensively in terms of stats and points
You have to do whatever you have to do to win a football game
Joe told us in the locker room, 'Wait 'til you see my block on film,' ... It was a tremendous block, the stride, the beauty of the arm action, the leg cycle, the speed.
That’s a formidable opponent
There’s great challenges ahead, in store for this team
I don't know what you would call this one
I don’t know if there’s a tougher person I’ve ever known ... I was asking the coaches, ‘Do you know a tougher guy than Justin Smith?’ He’s 10 out of 10. Can it get any higher? 11 out of 10? 12 out of 10? This was his most physical game.
I think it was a physically, emotional expenditure by everybody that was in that game
They’re healthier, especially in the linebacker unit ... The first time we played them, they had one healthy linebacker and two young kids. Now that group is playing at a high level. Their defensive line was strong; now it’s stronger.
Yeah, I would say it does. It means more. It means that these guys are my heroes, these players ... I grew up dreaming of being an athlete. Wanted to be an athlete. Those guys that were athletes were my heroes. Pretty much burnt up my childhood days thinking about that. That time’s past me by now, but m...
You're going to live or die in these games -- we lived ... We move on, and we move on in spectacular fashion.
I said he's a great football player
