The fathers come away full - we give them food and drinks all the time. So if they get anything out of this, they probably get five pounds heavier.
ride the ups and downs of the kids as they try to make it to the NHL ... Once they get here, it's a little overwhelming for [the dads], I'm sure. They remember when they were snot-nosed kids and they were hauling them to the rink at 6 in the morning. And now here they are playing in front of 20,000 people.
My brother has kind of taken that spot ... He's your biggest fan and sometimes he can be my critic, too. We talk after games and he kind of takes that spot.
Like the rest of the fathers, he was up early and hauling everybody to the rink ... He never got to see the results . . ..
I coached him in Peewee and all the way up ... and now he's in the NHL. My dream.
When I was a young kid, the game was easy ... but when I was 14 or 15, I had my ups and downs. I wasn't that big and some people were saying I was too small. But my dad always believed in me. He kept telling me I was one of the best and he helped me get through the times when I had doubts.
