View Photo »Those were the racers I idolized ... NASCAR was a world away from where I was.
Today we begin the countdown to Jimmie Johnson's record-setting fourth consecutive NASCAR points title. The beginning of the countdown is also known as the Daytona 500.
I have to say how much I appreciate Mark Martin and what he's done for the team and the friendship and the respect and the competition he's brought ... He's made me step my game up, be a better race car driver.
Heavy hearts and prayers with the boss man and the family ... That sort of takes a little bit of the shine off of it. But congratulations to Hendrick Motorsports, to Jimmie Johnson — Superman — and to my team.
It was such an incredible I have to say how much I appreciate Mark Martin and what he's done for the team and the friendship and the respect and the competition he's brought ... He's made me step my game up, be a better race car driver.
My equipment is just as good, but I am not as good as Jimmie Johnson
It takes awhile to sink in because I haven't let my mind think about it (but) to win four championships in eight seasons is amazing ... I felt we had a shot late in the summer, but I was devastated after Texas (a 13th place finish at the Dickies 500).
So he put a little pressure on me and this team that I don't think we were really thinking about anything other than just trying to come here and win. And so that did put a little extra pressure on us. And then what can you say about Jimmie Johnson and Chad Knaus and all the guys at the Lowe's Chevrolet...
It will take a while to set in ... The truth is, with Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt and to respect this sport the way I do, to do something that has never been done is so awesome. I don't even know where to start. This is unbelievable.
Four consecutive wins for Jimmie Johnson and Hendrick Motorsports is an incredible feat that the Quaker State team is proud to be a part of ... Quaker State congratulates Jimmie Johnson on the win and is honored to provide his engines with the oil that helped him be the first to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Se...
I have to say how much I appreciate Mark Martin. ... He's made me step my game up and be a better race car driver
We'll keep pushing to be better and to try to be where the No. 48 (Jimmie Johnson) team and the No. 24 (Jeff Gordon) team and the No. 5 (Mark Martin) team and all these great race teams that we're competing against and that we're racing for points.
I don't know what it is about our sport, but you go watch Tiger Woods play golf, Roger Federer in tennis, or you watch the Yankees win another World Series, it is just celebrated throughout the industry and [viewed as] an opportunity to see the best at the best and to see the best win multiple times in ...
You know, I just have exceeded I think my expectations. The race team has done everything that I knew that they could. I just didn't know, you know, if I could—I really didn't know if I could compete against Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. coming into this season, for sure.
He's too humble of a man, and doesn't understand what he's done in this sport, for this sport, how many young guys have respected what he's done ... Coming up through ASA, everybody knew who Mark Martin was. I aspired at that time to have people speak of me as they did you. When I came to race in the Bu...
Everyone deserves to have a home track whether you're a fan or a competitor, but we're at a different time and place with the economy ... You move away from a lot of these things. But moving to Las Vegas and California has brought us more talent the Busch brothers, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson.

Nothing even comes close to the San Diego Chargers or the Padres, and yet Jimmie Johnson is better than them, I know, I know
So fortunate to have my team, job, situation at Hendrick Motorsports ... Lowe's has been nothing but amazing to Hendrick Motorsports, to myself. The only car I've driven in the Cup Series has been a Chevy. It's been a Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet and a Lowe's Chevrolet. I'm very, very proud of that st...
Home of NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson
I typically wouldn't be (worried), but with living through the Texas experience, I'm not taking anything for granted
There's a lot of things that we've done this year as a team that are much better than what we've done in the past, no matter where we end up in the points ... It's just things that we can build on and try to stick together and make progress. At some point, somebody is going to beat Jimmie Johnson, and I...
It doesn't matter if it's Martinsville, Daytona 500, final race of the season, even down to the responsibilities on the car, what guys do, the check systems that they go through, wire things, lock things, all those things are really the same ... That's really what we strive for, is to treat every race t...
Jimmie Johnson’s fourth Sprint Cup title aside ... the biggest story in NASCAR now is my feud with Brad Keselowski. NASCAR called the brash young star into the hauler before Sunday’s race, probably to tell him that ‘brash’ rhymes with ‘crash.’ I’ve already vowed to wreck him at Homestead. I’m not sure w...
but my performance in Phoenix certainly closed it. So things went from 'slammed' to 'slammed shut.'
