We could have easily been beat down, and certainly there were some dark moments over the past week thinking about the points lost ... We didn't, though. But we saw in Texas that anything can happen, so we don't need to get too excited about this.
Jimmie Johnson's troubles added some drama to the Chase ... I'm surprised Johnson didn't go the safe route like he did at Talladega. Apparently, he wanted to come in here and send a 'Tex' message.' But delivery was denied.
When I was a kid growing up, (Dale) Earnhardt was winning a lot of races and championships and no one liked him ... When I first started driving for Hendrick (Motorsports), Jeff (Gordon) won his fourth championship, won a lot of races, no one really liked him. So I’m not the only one going through this....
We never could quite get over the hump ... But that hasn't stopped me from doing the 'Hump-ty Dance,' and I once got busy in a Burger King bathroom. But I won't lie. I think in Phoenix, Jimmie Johnson will 'bounce back,' this time not into the path of Sam Hornish, Jr., and win in Phoenix, and all but cl...
I feel that a 73-point lead is a very, very healthy lead ... But it's hard to look back at the week before at [the 184-point lead entering Texas], the comfort that brought. Homestead would have been a very enjoyable experience. That possibility still exists. [Martin] could have trouble this week. You ne...
I think an updated version of a Led Zeppelin classic is in order after what happened to Jimmie Johnson
When I started driving for Hendrick, I don't think that Phoenix was one that was circled on the calendar for any of the teams ... I think we, as a group, have figured out how to get around this track, the setups we needed.
I was one of those like many others from the outside looking in, looking at Jimmie Johnson making it look easy, thinking he was a lucky guy that drove for a great race team
I just look forward to getting back on the racetrack so that I don't have the memories and thoughts of Texas in my head and have something new to think about and focus on
Every week, we're right there, we're contending ... The 48 (Jimmie Johnson) makes it look easy on Cup side, we make it look easy on the Nationwide side. ... It's an accomplishment.
I can't wait to get on track so I can start thinking about something else ... All I can think about is three laps of Texas right now. That's all I've thought about for the whole week. Ready to get that out of the brain.
Hey, congratulations are in order for Jamie McMurray ... Ironically, his No. 26 Ford is sponsored by Crown Royal, which is exactly what we'll be doing to Jimmie Johnson in three weeks.
I just look forward to getting back on the race track so that I don't have the memories and thoughts of Texas
Last week a guy said to me that Jimmie Johnson is really lucky
Going back to Phoenix is exciting for us ... It's one of the tracks ... that I feel we can get a victory at and hopefully make some more cool things take place in the points.
And I knew how to beat them. I look at today's racers and I know I can beat the crap out of a guy like Jeff Gordon, the Busch brothers, and Jimmie Johnson. Those guys don't stand a chance against me at all!
We had a really fast car in the spring and had some different issues on pit road and some bad luck with the timing of the caution that kept us back in the pack, and still ended up with a reasonable finish but we passed a lot of cars, and in our opinion felt like we had the strongest car ... So going bac...
How do I know the Chase is practically over? ... Here’s why: the only feud we’re discussing is not one involving Jimmie Johnson. It’s the Juan Montoya-Bob Griese feud. I think it was wise for Griese to apologize; I think it would be even wiser if Taco Bell started an ad campaign featuring Montoya and Gr...
All along we've been trying to tell everybody this thing is far from over ... Luckily, we've raced for every point. We still have a decent lead. We need to dust ourselves off, head to Phoenix, get a good one in the bank there.
but I still find myself trailing Jimmie Johnson. I may be over the ‘hill,’ yet I still can’t seem to get over the ‘hump.’

It’s still a respectable lead ... 73 with two to go is a good position to be in. We didn’t want this by any means but we’re still in a great position and we’ll go to Phoenix and race.
If I had Jeff Gordon’s or Jimmie Johnson’s success there, then I would be comfortable going there. I just haven’t had any success there yet
The best track remaining for us would be Phoenix
As a victim of mechanical issues in a previous race ... I can definitely relate to what Mark Martin and Juan Montoya are going through. That same accident on the street would have simply resulted in an exchange of insurance numbers. On a NASCAR track, it resulted in the downfall of Jimmie Johnson's two ...
Phoenix is the best track remaining for me … it is one where I think I can win. I had a fast car in the spring
Sure, it looks like Jimmie Johnson has the Cup wrapped up
When Tony Stewart was lapping me in the fall race, I was able to fall in behind him and follow him for a long portion of that run ... Being behind him in race conditions, I just focused on his line and throttle application, what was going on.
I hope Montoya knows that it wasn’t my fault ... If he wants a scapegoat, he need look no further than Jeff Gordon. He’s the slow poke that’s responsible for my ‘slow poke.’ Juan’s a first-timer in the Chase. He’ll learn that not everything works in your favor, unless you’re Jimmie Johnson. In ten races...
Chandra and I were big fans of the ‘24/7’ series with Ricky Hatton and Floyd Mayweather, and that’s kind of how this all came about
We're not talking about Jimmie Johnson and Mark Martin ... We're not talking about how many races we've won [11] this year. We're talking about the 88 car.
It seems to me ... that these so-called 'debris' cautions are just NASCAR's sneaky way of making a boring race just as boring, except with more crashes.
