It's just like little Minnesota kids having to wonder why Randy Moss, Kevin Garnett, and Johan Santana disappeared from my great home state in the blink of an eye. And the dreaded answer, of course, is that

I thought it would be a lot closer ... I definitely don't want to say I had it in the bag. I thought along the lines of Johan, Sabathia or Webb. All three were Cy Young winners previously (Santana and Sabathia in the American League). I figured they had a better shot or as good a shot as I did.
Johan's exit physical, standard for all players, took place yesterday ... An MRI revealed a torn meniscus in his left knee, which necessitated surgery. Johan had mentioned some mild discomfort after his start in Washington, which did not preclude him from facing the Cubs or Marlins last week. Most important is that the operation was successful and he'll be ready to go before spring training.
I mean, for obvious reasons, we need to go out and win these games ... It seems like that’s been a fault of ours all year, these close games, these close one-run games, we just haven’t been able to find a way to come out on top.
