View Photo »I'm miniscule in France, Spain and Italy ... but in northern and northwest Europe, I'm well-known.
I think we caught them all at a really good time ... Terry Gilliam had just finished 'The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus'; he was in this wonderful place where he's just finished his movie, he really likes it and no one's reviewed it yet. John Cleese was incredibly happy, even though he'd just got divorce...
I think we were fortunate to have developed certain archetypes that appeal to people in many different cultures ... But it was so easy back then. There was no pressure to get an audience. We had no idea who was watching Monty Python.
I had always known that John Cleese and your dad would have big fights
I think we actually did some comedy that was genuinely original, and we did strange things that caught people's attention ... In addition to that, we created characters that were some kind of comic archetypes - people seemed to recognize them, whether they were from Japan or Iceland.
a paeanastic laudatory exaltation of the works of John Cleese, Graham Chapman, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin
I have never fancied Michael Palin
If you want to get a better view, this will be on eBay tomorrow.
but that's because I don't watch much comedy these days, as I get better laughs from Sean Hannity's show.
