John Furlong had a grand vision. So too did Poole. There were those of us who thought it was too grandiose, that it wouldn’t come off
The big thing about the puck is to make sure that ... it does the most good it possibly can, it just ends up in a place where Canadians can celebrate
John Furlong and his wonderful team who worked together with IOC, they staged a magnificent and memorable Games and … we at Sochi, we are the next, so the bar has been well and truly raised.
The laws of natural justice are prevailing and things are unfolding the way they should ... Given what happened during the Olympic Games, it couldn’t fall to a more worthy person.
Only by working together can we ensure that there is hope for the future of our planet. The Coca-Cola Live Positively award recognizes the leadership Premier Campbell and John Furlong have demonstrated in forging alliances that work toward addressing society's major problems such climate change.
We haven't yet decided what else we are going to do and when the Games are over we will look at that and see
I've made a call to John Furlong and we've been talking about next steps
We are one country. Sport is our common language. Because so many in the world live in harm's way, our message through sport has never been more important. To the Paralympic athletes of the world, the best ever, may the days ahead be exhilarating
The artistic director of Salt Lake City's 2002 Olympic Winter Games Arts Festival has sent an open letter to VANOC head John Furlong, urging him to withdraw a clause from artists' contracts that prohibits negative comments about the Games and Olympic sponsors.
To the Paralympic athletes of the world, the best ever, may the days ahead be exhilarating. May this be the beginning of the time of your life.
May the days ahead be exhilarating ... We welcome you to Canada, a country with a glowing heart.
They make the word impossible look like it's just a distraction, frankly
I knew it was missing because people were talking about it ... There's apparently some discussion going on today that it may have been found, but I'm not sure. I haven't had anybody tell me that it's found, personally tell me. I know that they found the stick and the glove and I'm not sure what's going ...
Where it ends up is the question
You look at it and you can't really believe it ... You're not sure even what to think. You have to almost see it to believe it. It's a stunner to watch.
The Paralympic Torch Relay is designed to illuminate the extraordinary achievements of Paralympians and celebrate the endless possibilities of the human spirit ... We encourage Canadians to come out and experience the energy and wonder of the Paralympic Flame throughout its 10-day journey.
There's just no question: this isn't something that you can do part-time ... You have to pour yourself into it; the people working with you have to pour themselves into it. And it really does own you.
Right now we’re decommissioning a whole bunch of places. We’re reorganizing four venues and getting the village ready for Paralympic athletes in Vancouver and in Whistler
To the people of Georgia, we are so sad and so sorry for your loss. Your unimaginable grief is shared by every Canadian and all those who have gathered here
These Olympic Games have lifted us up
This is a major worry, at the end of the Games, that we get everyone out on time, but we've already moved thousands and thousands of people
We are so sorry for your loss
Yet if Furlong and his team were occasionally found wanting, the Vancouver public was not
Athletes of the world, at your hands and through your determination and tenacity we have felt every imaginable emotion
