what if a group of white supremacists want to buy the cover? Or that guy who swears Stephen King helped kill John Lennon? Can Creative Loafing say no if the image suggested isn't definitively offensive?
I think shows like that are awful. I have no interest - I think it debases music and cheapens everything I care about. I think some great talent has come from them but the musicians I love are people who write their own songs, someone like Joe Strummer or John Lennon.
We've made an agreement with (Lennon's widow) Yoko Ono and John Lennon's sons on November 3
Apple is [also] expanding catalog of older music-based films with such titles as 'The Song Remains the Same,' 'U2: Rattle and Hum,' 'Buena Vista Social Club,' 'Don't Look Back-Bob Dylan,' John Lennon Imagine,' 'Neil Young: Heart of Gold,' 'This Is Spinal Tap,' 'Purple Rain,' and 'The Doors.'
John Lennon was already an artist and a poet
I think its the same for all desperate people ... The first punks were people like Oscar Wilde, John Lennon or Ian Dury. What they had in common was their openness to other influences.
I think we were ahead of our time — we became kind of amusing ... I remember John Lennon telling me he thought it was amazing that ‘Mrs. Brown, You’ve Got a Lovely Daughter’ was a great song and it doesn’t have a rhyme in it.
He kissed my feet. I had no idea he was going to do that. My boy was there, Junior. He said, 'Dad, dad, is that John Lennon?' I said, 'Yes it is John Lennon.' He done it, and he said, 'I just wanted you to know you are the man who made it possible for me to be a star in rock 'n' roll music.' I just kind...

John Lennon is Johnny Depp now
Well, John Lennon, The Beatles... forget about it! And then George Michael at one time - he was really strong in the neighbourhood, he penetrated urban culture really strong
I’m in a club of well-known Beatles tribute musicians, so I play ‘Beatles Rock Band’ set on expert ... I am singing ‘I Am the Walrus,’ giving it my best John Lennon. I know I’m on pitch. And ‘Rock Band’ says I’m just OK.
Apparently John Lennon wrote it as a ballad, so we have a cool version, sort of mid tempo. I do 'I can't help falling in love.' They wanted an Elvis song so we did that one. 'If I can't have you' from 'Saturday Night Fever.'
It was just getting involved and seeing your heroes on the wall or books about them -- John Lennon or Ghandi or Mother Theresa or Muhammad Ali ... It was an amazing place where I was kind of shaped politically. That's important -- for people to understand and have knowledge. It's important for a kid fro...
Our goal with The Beatles Rock Band campaign was to create a global celebration of The Beatles by offering fans a new way to interact with the music and to introduce The Beatles to a new generation ... We worked very closely with Apple Corp. to assure the ‘Come Together’ TV commercial was an amazing tri...
Communication not being like it is today, we just got a phone call from New York ... I didn't know whether someone was making it up because I just could not believe that it had happened. It had been just two or three years before that I had invited John Lennon to our booth in Los Angeles, never dreaming...
I don’t think we had any idea (how important the series would be at the start) ... If Howard was still around, he’d tell you he did, but I’m certain he didn’t. It didn’t take long, however, in some of the things that happened on ‘Monday Night Football,’ like the death of John Lennon, and all of a sudden...
Noel is fantastic, one of Britain’s finest. Liam’s all right if you want a second-rate Rotten. I remember hearing ‘Rock ’n’ Roll Star’ for the first time, and it sounded like John Lennon and John Lydon mixed together.
Lily's really retro so she says, 'Oh I wish you could work with Joan Crawford or Janice Joplin.' I'm like, 'They're dead now. It's probably not going to happen.' She's into Marilyn Monroe and John Lennon and all these people.
Between 1969 and 1979, Larry Norman was the Christian rock scene's answer to Bob Dylan, John Lennon and Mick Jagger
