It's impossible to quantify the need of Vermont is 'x' and if we had that many baskets there would be no hunger ... It's a different story for every person. We're doing the same thing we did before the economic crisis, but the need is more. The more we can raise awareness, the more effective we can be.
Experts say the economy may be starting to bounce back, but true recovery will take years. That means John Sayles of the Vermont Foodbank is very busy. Sayles says the foodbank is hearing from its network partners that demand is up 35% to 40%. Full Article at WCAX

We’re also able to source more food ... We have more distribution center capacity, and being in southern Vermont gives us easier access to food coming up from the south.
Now more than ever, the Foodbank and our partners throughout the state are looking to businesses to not only draw attention to the issue of hunger in Vermont, but also to support the fight against hunger in a very significant way
In Vermont, one in eight people access the charitable food system, and more than 20,400 of them are children ... This month, we are calling on all Vermonters to do their part to fight hunger in their communities.
