Why wouldn’t I want to come back? ... We have the best owners in baseball. We have the most revenue. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of the Yankees tradition. I would like to continue mine and I feel like I can come back and do a great job.
Obviously, I’m going to have a lot of options ... and I think what it comes down to is what kind of option the Yankees want to give me or not give me. Why wouldn’t I want to come back? We have the best owners in baseball. We have the best team. We have the most revenue and the biggest payroll, so who wo...
It’s totally different ... With Boston, everybody expected us to lose. We just went out and played and had fun. People here expect us to be great all the time.
When I was with Boston, everyone expected us to lose ... That was the way people looked at that team for so many years. We had fun and we won. People expect us to be great all the time here.
It's pretty impressive what he's doing. That's hard to do in batting practice sometimes and he's doing it in World Series games ... He's found a groove. It's our job and our pitchers' jobs to find a way to get him out of that groove. Hopefully, we have something better planned for him on Wednesday.
Hopefully, Brett's got a taste for what at-bats in the World Series are like now, and he'll be better ... It just seems like his timing is a little off.
He's the reason why we're sitting here and we're in Philadelphia right now ... I felt like without him, who knows where our road may have stopped at.
We had a lot of come-from-behind wins this year ... We battled in a tough environment here in Philadelphia to overcome a tough eighth inning. So that ninth inning was huge for us, but our team will continue to battle and hopefully we can get another win soon.
We probably wouldn’t be in this situation right now if Alex hadn’t hit like he had ... We probably would not have advanced. He was a big bat against Minnesota, against Anaheim.
I think this is what baseball needed ... You have the two best teams out there. You have the defending champions and the team who has won more championships than anybody. Â This is definitely a special World Series.
We got the three best players on the market, so we should be playing in the World Series ... We added an ace, another great pitcher and a great player.
I think this is just what baseball needed ... You have the two best teams out there. You have the defending champions, and you have the team that has won more championships than anybody. So I think this is perfect for baseball. … It's definitely a special World Series.
We're happy and we're going to celebrate a little bit tonight ... Hopefully we can get four more wins, that's the goal we're shooting for. I came to New York for a reason, and that was to be in the World Series every year. Unfortunately it took my fourth year to get here, but I'm going to make the most ...
I came to New York for a reason, and that's to be going to the World Series every year
This is a tremendous accomplishment ... But we have one more mountain to climb. We still need to get four more wins. Philly is a tough team. We know they're a tough team, but, hopefully, we'll be victorious. It should be a great World Series.
You always want to have that title when you're done playing, to be a winner ... I have former teammates in Oakland and Kansas City who never got this opportunity. A lot of guys never get to this situation. That's why we need to take full advantage of it and go full bore for the next 10 to 12 days. Our j...
I think we did a pretty good job at our ballpark in those conditions ... The conditions (in Anaheim) are definitely going to be a little bit more favorable for both teams to actually try to perform a bit better. The bones won't be aching as much, and the body will be able to move around a bit quicker.
Sometimes in this game you need to have some luck but you also need to go out and work hard and try to figure out what went wrong in Game 3 (of the ALDS)
I thought in 2006 we had a very good team and we ran into that rainout game against Detroit and it felt like it kind of changed the momentum ... Detroit got that wind that they needed and took care of business against us. I can't believe it's been five years. It means we're all getting old together.
