I think we're hitting our stride defensively
That's the important thing. He's still getting a feel for our system, and it's up to us to keep encouraging him to do those things.
He was ready for his opportunities
There's a process to it, Turnovers will be one of the main topics when coach and team get together again on the Stanford campus. Twenty-four turnovers makes it difficult to beat them ... They forced a lot of them. You have to be sharp and crisp with your passes. You have to value the basketball. They're...
He's a senior and great leader and a terrific player ... He stepped up and made big plays and he's done that before. We tried to limit his touches, but I'll tell you what, he hit some tough shots. We defended him well, but he finishes around the basket as well as any young man I've seen.
It was a great game, a hard-fought game ... Give Syracuse a lot of credit down the stretch. They made big plays. Kris Joseph stepped up and made big shots and they defended well out of the zone. It was a great effort down the stretch and they were able to close the game.
First of all he’s a senior and great leader and a terrific player
Before we arrived it was so early in the season. You don't really know the makeup of your team and how good you can be
He stepped up and made big plays and he's done that before. We tried to limit his touches, but I'll tell you what, he hit some tough shots. We defended him well, but he finishes around the basket as well as any young man I've seen.
This is a great opportunity to still develop some young players, to get to know what we have, our rotations, who can do what in situations
We think we can shoot the ball, so it wasn’t really an emphasis tonight ... We spaced the floor and got good looks. We always stay in character, tell them to be ready when those shots present themselves and for the most part we took good shots.
Especially early we did a good job defensively, getting in the passing lanes and causing turnovers
Our focus was for a team effort and we really played well together and shared the ball, which we've been working on ... There were stretches where we played really, really good defense.
