Basketball star Jordan Farmar (L) of the Los Angeles Lakers visits Palestinian patients from the near by Gaza Strip who where allowed into Israel following deadly clashes last week between members of the Fatah movement (seen) loyal to president Mahmud Abbas and the Islamic Hamas loyalists, during his visit to the Barzilay hospital in the Israeli city of Ashkelon on August 7 2008. Farmar was invited to Israel by the Peres Center for peace which was founded in 1996 by Nobel Peace Laureate, former Prime Minister, and current President of Israel Shimon Peres, with the aim of furthering his vision in which people of the Middle East region work together to build peace through socio-economic cooperation and development, and people-to-people interaction.
