They invited me, so, yeah, I just found out yesterday ... Anytime you can play for your country, represent your country it’s a big honor and I’m excited about the opportunity.
Whenever I get out there I try to do my best, and whomever I'm with I'm just happy to be out there to help the team out as much as possible ... It's always fun when you get out there with players like [Datsyuk and Franzen]. They are obviously two of the best players in this League, so it's fun. At the s...
It is called a little tighter but at the same time we have to be more disciplined, can't be taking stick penalties or undisciplined penalties, we just got to be smarter ... They have a good power play, we can't keep going on the kill and waste time 5-on-4 when we could be playing 5-on-5.
We didn't skate this morning, so, on my lineup card that's how I have them ... But since that time we've talked about how we liked Abby (Justin Abdelkader) and Cleary and Bert (Todd Bertuzzi) together, too, so we'll see.
We want to definitely help the team out
We need to get our third and fourth lines going ... That’s why we need Helm back. He seems to be the key to the bottom six. He plugs into the three hole and (Justin Abdelkader) in the four hole. Then, suddenly, we’re a different hockey club depth-wise.
We got to do more of the same, just be physical, bring energy, hang onto pucks, be simple ... We can definitely contribute to this team. We have the group that can contribute offensively, and in the playoffs, that's what you need, four lines going.
With injuries and some front-line players not producing, it's been all the more important that the Wings have received contributions from depth players like Darren Helm, Drew Miller and Justin Abdelkader, a trio that has combined for 26 points in 16 games since the All-Star break.
We get some more minutes here and just got to make the most of it and play my game and be physical, be on the pucks, take pucks to the net
We have some guys down, but for the most part I thought the effort was there ... Obviously, these points are huge and we're not going to make any excuses. We just flat out have to be better.
We didn't want to give up those two power-play goals, so that was tough
We just really try to stick to our systems
I'm feeling better ... Bad deal with the stomach flu.
Just out there and worked hard and tried to create some chances for us
It'll be physical, but they can really skate, too ... We're going to have to play a tight road game. Got to commit to defense.
Depth’s always important in a long season ... You go through stretches where you have injuries. We’ve been fortunate we’ve been fairly healthy all season, now we have injuries and it’s an opportunity for a lot of guys. Hopefully our depth can show in times like these.
