Every modern White House has put out news on contentious issues late on Friday in the hope that doing so will bury it, or reduce the amount of critical scrutiny it would otherwise receive. What is unusual is the degree to which this White House has relied on this tactic.

She started communicating early and got the best of both worlds by presenting herself as a solutions-oriented moderate candidate while still getting fund-raising help from Ted Olsen and Mitt Romney and Karl Rove.
What we are seeing with the White House's timing in releasing its decision on KSM and other terrorists is a presidency clinging to campaign tactics that aim to dominate the 24-hour-news cycle ... The problem is that ploys that work in a campaign don't work nearly as well when you're in charge of the exe...
I can’t shake the fact that Karl Rove is following me [on Twitter] -- it’s creepy.
Even military tribunals are subject to outside pressures. And a lot of outside pressures were put by lawyers who were recruited by Holder to serve inside this Justice Department… This is a continuation of a long-standing plot by a bunch of left-wing lawyers who do not love America, who want to undermine...
I nearly fell out of my chair reading [Rove's op-ed]. It was, after all, Karl Rove's signature move -- release bad news late on Friday afternoons, in the hopes it would generate less attention. Rove is going after the president's team for occasionally using the same media trick Rove personally perfected...
If you look at the sweep of American history, the White House party has lost an average of 28 seats in the House and five in the Senate. We lost 30 in the House and six in the Senate ... We lost. There's no doubt about it, but it was a close loss.
Thus for all the discussion about what it would take to build on this month’s victories of Mr. McDonnell in Virginia and another Republican, Christopher J. Christie, in the gubernatorial race in New Jersey, there was barely a whisper about abortion, gay marriage or gun control ... The question of terror...

These people must be from Michigan
We are running this transparent and very accountable administration ... That was not the case when Karl Rove was calling the shots in the White House for eight years.

Bill, I got to tell you, I think this has to do with politics. They are scared to death of making what they know is the right decision to agree with Gen. McChrystal's assessment and make that announcement before the November elections. They're afraid it will depress Democratic turnout in Virginia and Ne...
Harley Doles is the Karl Rove of Monroe politics ... and he has chastised the incumbent Republicans for benefiting from a block vote, while the whole time he’s been over there trying to get that block vote on his side, and from the sound of things it looks like he’s accomplished that.
The question will be whether the Republican candidates next year can talk about a lot of kitchen-table issues and the deficit and spending ... Rush Limbaugh won't be on the ballot.
This is the backyard of the White House, as Karl Rove says on Fox.
This is a White House engaging in its own version of the media enemies list ... It’s unhelpful for the country and undignified for the president of the United States.
the busiest man in the White House... It was Rove who shaped the agenda, message and strategy that got Bush – the least experienced presidential nominee of modern times – into the White House.
This is a White House engaging in its own version of the media enemies list. And it's unhelpful for the country and undignified for the president of the United States to so do ... That is over- the-top language. We heard that before from Richard Nixon.
These accusations are a political hit, right from Karl Rove’s playbook
if you don’t like the questions that are being asked…then you try and demonize… ... they called Fox News a White House enemy.
