It's a great offense ... It's a great offense with a lot of weapons, and when you have one of the top three players in the league (Kobe Bryant), if not the best player in the league, and then you have (Pau) Gasol and (Andrew) Bynum . . . then a good offense with good players is a nice combination.
I'm hesitating a little bit now and need to improve my all-around game ... I still have to learn the plays more. I still have to become a lot more vocal. I'm learning from my coaches and veterans. Kirk [Hinrich] has been helping me. He came on the road and also called me and texted me. I'll do anything to win, whether it's tripping or whatever. Great players like Kobe [Bryant] and [others] have that killer instinct. Hopefully, I'll have it one day.
As coaches, when we scout Portland, we kind of put him in the same category of Kobe (Bryant), LeBron (James), Dwyane Wade
Not a star, but like, a superstar. Something around, like, Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, something like that.
Most people feel that Kobe Bryant is the best player in the league and I’m sure that James wants that honor. He’s getting there.
That's why we have to get back to a team defence, everybody ... I'm the first who has to be much better in defence. But we have to try to help each other. Sometimes, if we have Kobe Bryant on the court, we have to help (Anthony Parker). Or if it's (Kevin) Garnett or it's the point guard, everyone has to be ready to help.
I'm happy if any of our starters ... our guys like Pau (Gasol) and Kobe (Bryant), can spend less than 34 minutes on the floor ... That's pretty good. That's important. They (the backups) are able to break games open. Instead of throwing the bench in and saying, `OK, hold the fort. Keep us in this game while our starters recover,' they're able to extend the lead and that's important.
Quite frankly, you're going there to win, but I think it'll be a great experience ... When you get to play somewhere, especially in New York City, when you hear Kobe Bryant talking about it, Allen Iverson talking about his experience there. A lot of the guys watch the NBA and want to be like those guys. This is a story you can go back and tell your kids about.
