Unless you're a New York Yankees fan, you probably haven't thought much about Ivan Nova. You might think he's overrated because he pitches in New York, his 21-8 career record undone by a 4.21 earned run average. Or maybe you think he's underrated, a 5.6

I’m just going out there trying to throw strikes, trying to be aggressive ... I talked to (pitching coach) Larry Rothschild after the game and that’s what he said — you just have to go out there, keep being aggressive and not try to pick too much.
We have an idea of where we want him to be when he comes back, so the results are kind of a mixed bag
To me, in that situation... it’s better for me to face the right-handed hitter than the lefty ... So I feel comfortable when the pitching coach (Larry Rothschild) tells me, you’re going to walk the guy and make a good pitch to Jones.
The answer to that's pretty obvious ... Obviously, the starters need to pick up the pace and pitch us some innings.
They got it to stop bleeding and it was a question, 'Can I use him or not?' Me and [pitching coach Larry Rothschild ] were going back-and-forth because if you put him in there and it starts bleeding again you could be in trouble. Now, the only guy you have left is Mo [Rivera]
Obviously, the starters need to pick up the pace and pitch us some innings
I feel like I could be ready in three weeks but (the Yankees) kept telling me to slow down and I understand that ... I do feel great, though. After I threw (Tuesday), I looked at (pitching coach Larry Rothschild) and told him he was going to have to slow me down because I'm not going to be able to do it...
I think today, arm strength-wise he was down ... It is a factor. His split is not quite as crisp. Breaking balls aren't quite as crisp. He has had starts like this. He did last year.
It wasn’t anything extraordinary ... He basically got on top of the ball.
I think it's early in the season for him and he's a power guy ... I don't know that the full arm strength has been there the first two starts, but I think you're going to see it. He's had a couple of really good bullpens so I think he's getting close to being the guy you normally see.
He just got his arm where it should be in the right slot ... It's not unusual for him to hit his stride and then take off.
I will try not to let it get to me. I signed with the Yankees and that’s all in the package.’’ He just needs to relax
He was trying to force pitches, especially the cutter, instead of trusting his stuff and letting it work for him
I know [Pettitte] knows what he’s doing, but this is a different set of circumstances — no matter who you are
There’s different ways to look at it
I think he will handle it fine
Yeah, a lot happened to him quick, and it wasn’t only what happened when he got to New York
I have a schedule for him, but I don’t look at it beyond each day
His arm speed stayed up for all three innings and his velocity was consistent ... The ball came out of his hand really well.
He threw some good changeups ... His arm speed stayed up for all three innings; his velocity was pretty consistent. ... Today was a big step forward.
Getting behind with your fastball is not a real good formula for success ... He knew he had a good fastball, but, with young guys who feel that way, they a lot of times don’t pitch as much with what they have, using their other pitches.
It’s a positive. It’s a step in the right direction ... If he can maintain that and increase it, I think the location will get better as we go.
