It’s always harder when the opposition score first against us at White Hart Lane, they can then sit back and it’s hard to break them down ... In the second half we managed to score a goal and for 15, 20 minutes after that, we were all over them. We created chances but couldn’t score.

But there is no way he is coming to Tottenham and no swap deal in the offing for Luka Modric. I think they will get the best out of him.
It was a shame we didn’t win. It was a hard game, especially when Wolves scored first.
You have to give them credit - I'm not sure anyone was quite expecting this in August when they lost their opening two games 3-0 to Manchester United and 5-1 to Manchester City, Luka Modric looked set to leave for Chelsea and they were struggling to bring signings in.
We're up to third place and there are hard games coming up ... We need to keep going and just keep up this momentum. We're playing well, we're fighting for each other and we need to keep going. We are full of confidence. We've won eight games out of nine and that is fantastic form in the Premier League.
I think Torres is starting to look the player that we all know he can be, the player he was at Liverpool - he is a top player no doubt that about it. But there is no way he is coming to Tottenham and no swap deal in the offing for Luka Modric, I think they will get the best out of him.
It was a very important game for us because it was the first game after the international break ... We were away from each other for a long time and it was important to win. Villa have good players, international players with lots of experience, but we showed how much quality we have.
If we had Roman Pavlyuchenko and Giovani Dos Santos fit, we would not have played Luka Modric, Jermain Defoe or Aaron Lennon. I wouldn’t want to say going out is a blessing. I wanted to win tonight. You want to win every game.
We needed some fresh blood in our team
The scoreline flattered Spurs, who were disappointing in the first half and lacked creativity in central areas, with Rafael van der Vaart (hamstring) and Luka Modric (ill) both out.
Luka Modric is in a league of his own as a central midfielder of his type in the Barclays Premier League right now… Modric is central to their run of form. Yes, he has Scott Parker as his firefighter to cover and sit but Luka can play in a four because he’s not afraid to put in a shift.
A player like Luka Modric, has always stated that money wasn`t his motivation
We played some great stuff, had clear-cut chances before the first goal went in and in the second half had more chances to kill the game off, but I always thought we were in control. Luka Modric and Scott Parker were outstanding in midfield and Younes Kaboul is turning into the player I always thought he could be, his heading was outstanding and we looked assured at the back.
Van der Vaart trained yesterday and from what the medical people are saying he is at 75%. It sounds good but whether he goes from 75% to 100%, we will take it from there. He has got a chance [of playing against Villa] but it is important he doesn't get a recurrence of what he had when he was away with H...
