View Photo »We are talking about the World Series, you are not talking about just a regular game during the regular season
To me there has been no more valuable player in baseball the last 13 or 14 years than Mariano Rivera
We're talking about the World Series ... You're not talking about a regular game during the regular season. Don't get me wrong, they are important. But this is what we fight for, and we're here. It's not time to rest.
I feel confident. I know we've had some struggles. There's a lot of teams that during the playoffs that have had some struggles in their bullpen ... But you have to bounce back. That's the bottom line. We've had struggles during the year in our bullpen and our guys have bounced back. I've actually seen ...
I think all those guys have a good chance to be great closers ... I mean, I don't know how the Yankees are going to use them, though. They have the last word. They are the ones to make decisions. But we have a lot of talent in the bullpen, especially those young boys. They have a lot of talent. Dave Rob...
They’re not immune to giving up runs in the playoffs ... I’ve actually seen Mariano Rivera give up a run in the playoffs. It happens. It’s tough baseball this time of year. Every pitch has a lot of meaning. They’re young guys, but I think they’re holding their heads up high. I expect good things out of ...
You're talking about the World Series ... When you talk about the World Series, it's the ultimate. I won't take it for granted. This one is just like the first one. It's the World Series. It's as simple as that.
We figured we weren’t going to see Mariano Rivera much longer ... There was a lot of baseball left.
You're talking about the World Series ... When you talk about the World Series, it's the ultimate. I won't take it for granted. This one is just like the first one. It's the World Series. It's as simple as that.
You're talking about the World Series ... When you talk about the World Series, it's the ultimate. I won't take it for granted. This one is just like the first one. It's the World Series. It's as simple as that.
When we start Spring Training, I always think that we have a chance to go to the World Series ... But it's hard to get into this position. So definitely when you're here, you want to do anything -- whatever it takes -- to win.
I was on the bus on the way here ... My friend called me. He said, ‘Hey, stop cheating.' ‘What are you talking about?' ‘Everybody here is saying you spit on the ball.' ‘What?' But Major League Baseball cleared that. Somebody had nothing better to do, I guess.
I want another World Series ... I want this time of the year to be the way it used to be.
I don't look for records or things like that ... I'm not here for that. I'm here to play baseball and win World Series. If it happens, it happens. But I don't come here to chase records.
