Our biggest change has been the offensive line ... Mark Dantonio did a great job of building an offense, but the line didn’t fit our style. Year one, year two, we were getting the offensive line to play our style. We’re more of a zone than a gap team. We want to get our linemen out on screens and play o...

Brett Swenson has had a remarkable career here at Michigan State, completely rewriting the record book ... You begin to appreciate what Brett has done here when you look at the great kickers who preceded him. … He was almost a unanimous selection as our team MVP, and that speaks volumes.
One of the other two teams, Penn State or Iowa, will probably go to a BCS game, I would think ... or at least have a great possibility of doing that.
Nothing intimidated [Edinger], he was a gamer ... He was going to step out there and kick the football, regardless of the situation, and do very well. ... [Swenson] also reminds me of Mike Nugent at Ohio State. Very competitive, always looked at the game very technique-oriented, very astute at how he we...
I remember when I was a head coach for the first time at Cincinnati and we played at Penn State in 1995 ... It was a little bit surreal to walk out and talk with him at midfield.

I remember all those games ... And if we really want respect this year, we'll win our last Big Ten game against Penn State. If we do, people will start talking about us across the country again. From my perspective, No. 7 is very important.
Do we take a step back from where we initially thought? I guess you'd say, 'Yeah, we do.' But, you know, you have to play the cards that you're dealt at some point in time and re-evaluate your situation and move forward ... If we were an 8-5 football team at the end of the bowl season, is it where we wa...
When you do look at that, it's obvious to me we have to make plays on the road ... As a defensive football team, you have an opportunity to make a play, you have to make it on a ball in the air, you've got to come up with some turnovers. We played well against Illinois. We're hoping to duplicate that, t...
They've gone into Big Ten stadiums and won. And that's an exclamation point when you're a coach when you're able to do that on a consistent basis
We have to focus on where we're at ... We're not going to win the Big Ten. That's a reality now. But a lot of teams are fighting adversity. We can be 7-5 . . . 8-5 if we win our bowl game.
Maybe it's Halloween. I don't know ... There were some scary things that happened out there, that's for sure.
We've got an opportunity here to win four games ... I think if we win four games we'll be in a New Year's Day bowl game. I believe that. We'll have the same record that Iowa had last year. There's a lot to play for.
You go from compete celebration with the (Michigan State scoring) drive ... to shock and denial. That couldn't have happened?
Credit Iowa, give Iowa congratulations for pulling it out at the end
When I was here in 1999 and 2000 I remember going to Iowa ... They were on a long losing streak; I remember it was the longest in the nation at that time. They beat Michigan State, and at that point the tide was starting to turn . It takes some time, one, two, three years even. But I remember that time ...

Iowa is traditionally a two-back offense, but they will get some one-back sets. They're a downhill football team ... They've got an excellent offense line and, as most people are, they're very well tied together conceptually.
We're a 3-1 football team which, I believe, puts us in second somehow ... We need to capture that moment and focus ourselves on the next challenge, which is Iowa. It'll be a huge challenge for us.
It's a huge opportunity for Michigan State ... I'm sure the place will be rocking, our fans will be out, it'll be a hot ticket and it'll be cranked. That's Spartan Nation.
I think all of our goals are very reachable ... We're playing everybody except Ohio State, and the team that beat us has already lost once. So, everything is there. What we needed to concentrate on is the very next challenge, which is Northwestern.
I guess when you look at them offensively, first guy you look at is their quarterback, Kafka, and the things that he's been able to do ... It really has put him as one of the premier quarterbacks in the Big Ten conference.
The things that he's been able to do have really put him as one of the premier quarterbacks in the Big Ten conference ... Outstanding statistically right now, and he'll throw the ball all over the place.
