Mark Mangino out at Kansas. Team meeting in minutes.
There have been so many e-mails and phone calls and text messages in the last week to me, my family, my staff ... A lot of parents have contacted the office. My only regret is right now I’m focused on Missouri and I can’t return all those messages. But I will.
I guess it's better than being on the other side of that ... They're talking about, let's see: Charlie Weis (at Notre Dame), Mark Mangino (at Kansas), Les Miles. To give due respect to all the coaches that are supposedly on the hot seat, there are like 10 coaches I don't want to be one of them because t...
I'll send you back to St. Louis where you can get shot by your homies
I guess it's better than being on the other side of that ... They're talking about Charlie Weis, Mark Mangino (Kansas), Les Miles (LSU). To give due respect to all of the coaches that are supposedly on the hot seat … I don't want to be one of them because that really hurts your recruiting.
Everything I’m hearing from my sources, which I think are pretty credible, (tells) me that 6-6, for us in the Big 12, would qualify for a bowl

It hasn't played out. Answering you in an honest fashion, it hasn't played out. That's how I feel about it. So I'm doing my job and getting ready to play Missouri.
I think (KU coach Mark Mangino) has demonstrated over the years that he'll play freshmen ... We've always done that here. In their case, both of them knew there was an opportunity to play.
He was pacing all around the field this week ... I said, 'He knows we're playing Texas this week, doesn't he?' He has his Missouri game face on a week early, and I'm telling you, you can tell when you're getting ready to play Missouri. He has his hands behind his back as he walks around the field about ...

This is a very prideful bunch of kids, maybe that's the best way to describe them ... They have tremendous pride. Distracted? No. Let me tell you what's on my mind. This week, it was Texas. As soon as I walk out of this room, Missouri.

I'd like to congratulate Texas on what a fine football team it has ... They don't have any weaknesses. I told Colt McCoy after the game that he's a very talented quarterback, and I've enjoyed watching him play. He's the leader of that team, no question.

I'm ready to go (against Missouri), but you asked the wrong person that question
You lose a few games in a row, those type of things surface. It's not uncommon ... I don't take it lightly, but I'm focused on Texas and I'm very comfortable the way we manage and run the football program here. This is what comes when things aren't going well. You're going to find disgruntled people.
I won't be surprised if in a year or two a couple teams pull out the wishbone, and I'm not saying that jokingly, either ... It's like old clothes. Hold on to 'em, they'll come back in style. Don't throw them away.
I run this program with a lot of integrity ... I have been in this conference for nearly 20 years, and what I can tell you is that our coaching intensity is not largely different from the rest of the Big Eight and Big 12 teams I've observed.
Having coached at other schools in the conference before I went to Kansas, the label on Kansas was they weren't very tough ... If I was going to be the football coach at Kansas -- I'm used to being around tough teams -- we were going to have to be tougher.

I think it’s an important game because it’s an in-state rival and people in the state of Kansas get excited about it ... When you’re playing football or basketball, these are the biggest sporting events of the year in the state, so everybody pays attention to it. That’s why it’s a big game.
D.J. won’t practice, but he’s part of our team ... In fact, he will travel with us this weekend to Manhattan for our game against Kansas State. As D.J. faces this disease, we know he will do so with great determination. Our thoughts and prayers will be with him daily. We look forward to his complete rec...
Kansas State is a much improved team ... They are getting better every week. They are a lot better than last year. Right now we have some issues with our offensive line. We are analyzing that and trying to fix that.
