Frank Sinkwich and Charley Trippi. Beginning this fall, the Sinkwich Award will go to the Bulldogs' toughest player and the Trippi Award will go to the team's most versatile player. "It must have been a special experience to see these two great Georgia...
I’ve always considered Georgia since high school. It just never really worked out the first time around. They liked me out of high school. They just wanted me to go to a summer camp, and I was never able to make it up there," Garcia told reporters...
“They got a chance to watch his film. I think it was Maryland’s game against Georgia Tech. Coach Bobo, Coach Friend, and Coach Mark Richt watched it and they liked. Of course, after seeing it, they were all interested and they want him to be a Bulldog.”
Richts job status was heavily debated. Richt confessed he knows a website that ranks college football coaches based on the warmth of their seat. He first visited the site in 2007, when the team was coming off an 11-2 season. I figured it was safe to go...
Commings was arrested by UGA Police last month on a charge of domestic violence. He allegedly struck his girlfriend during a late-night argument in downtown Athens, police said at the time. Commings is projected as a starting cornerback and his absence...
Adams writes : The Kell Longhorns of Marietta, Ga. , have been transformed into one of the best programs in the state, and the host of talent there includes 2013 ATH Brendan Langley, who this week racked up five offers in three days. Tags: Georgia...
Even if the Bulldogs sign more recruits and have wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell play cornerback, the depth at that position is thin and they can't afford any major injuries and suspensions this season. I don't want anyone to take this the wrong way...
I always find it fascinating when a coach takes on his old team. Kevin Sumlin made Houston into an offensive powerhouse and almost took the Cougars to a BCS Bowl. And he's certainly got his work cut out for him at A&M. Although Georgia had a good...
The 6-foot-4, 290-pound Garcia is an NFL prospect who started all12 games at left offensive tackle for Maryland as a sophomore this past season. Garcia, who starred at Norcross High School, was granted a release by Maryland coach Randy Edsall on Monday...
Georgia: Mark Richt and his staff get serious props for recovering from an 0-2 start and steering the Bulldogs to the SEC championship game. A lot of teams would have folded after that South Carolina loss. In particular, defensive coordinator Todd...
If Muschamp has only ~14 or 15 wins after his first two years, 2013 will be quite interesting in Gainesville. And how lucky is Mark Richt to get that gift schedule two years in a row? Only 17 staffs in college football have not had a coaching change...
Coach Mark Richt will turn 52 this Saturday. By all appearances, Richt has held his age well. Aside from a slight paunch around the middle and thinning hair, he has maintained a stellar image for the University of Georgia since he became the head coach...
February 12, 2012, 3:04 PM ET Incoming punter proves he's more than capable of living up to expectations ATHENS, Ga. Judging by the loft and hang time, Richt thought the kicks were those of Bulldogs senior Drew Butler , who in 2009 was named college...
2011 season came fully equipped with a heated seat for Georgia Bulldogs head coach Mark Richt. After opening the season with back-to-back losses to Boise State and South Carolina, things didn’t look good for the Dawgs or for Richt. However, Georgia...
A notable name is missing from that list, and it is the University of Georgia. Despite not winning a national championship since 1980, the Bulldogs have been close multiple times under head coach Mark Richt, but the stars have never aligned in their...
Well, their defenense is loaded with stars in the making and their ability to run the ball can allow them to finally get a shot at a BCS bowl. Plus, the Big Ten does not look as if they have a premier national title contender, does it? This season...
The board got another upbeat financial report and voted to spend more than $3 million on several facilities projects (details in story), but the two topics that might interest you the most pertained to Mark Richt’s contract extension and a college...
Meanwhile, a new deal for defensive coordinator Todd Grantham is further from completion. Georgia athletic director Greg McGarity spoke to Grantham on Wednesday and a deal could be done in a few weeks. “I’d probably have to give him something in writing...
Mark Richt (born February 18, 1960 in Omaha, Nebraska) is the current head coach of the University of Georgia Bulldogs football team. I thought that’d be a nice incentive ... As it turned out, it wasn’t much of an incentive.
I don’t blame you for asking really, but I just don’t have any good answers
There's been some moments in time when he hasn't played as good as we would like, but I like what he's done all season long
It's going to take everybody to have some success in the passing game, for sure
Their goal is not to trick you; their goal is to line up and play real sound football and basically maul you ... It's going to be interesting to see. That's maybe one of the most compelling matchups of the game: their run offense vs. our run defense.
I'm a broken record on the turnover ratio, but that's huge
Before you know it, all three phases of the game has made a big play, and it might result in 21 points in a very short amount of time ... If something bad happens, you've just got to be able to shake it off and regroup and get back to work. If you let it get in your head, then you've got problems.
I think everybody's got to keep their composure and just keep fighting ... I think what happens, from what I've seen, is not only the offense for LSU makes plays, but the defense will make some plays, and the special teams will make some plays.
Unless there's a setback, I think he will play in the game
I know he won't be practicing (Monday)
Unless there's a setback ... I think he will play in the game.
It's been fun to turn it around and see these players and these coaches enjoy the fruits of all their labor ... It was probably a whole lot more difficult for the players than it was for the coaches. We're not out and about every day like the players who have to go to class .They probably got to hear it...
So it's just ... that they're very well equipped to run the football and to run it in such a way that they wear you down as the game goes on from what I've seen.
Everybody's got first, second, third string, you know
I've spent most of the day watching them
It’s very difficult to defend Tech’s offense; that’s very obvious
I thought they’d be better by now, but they’re not ... I was shaking hands instead of hugging. Hopefully they’ll understand.
I was hoping early in the week Isaiah would be able to make it, but it became evident he wasn’t going to be able to go ... He has made progress, and we hope he’ll be able to practice as early as Monday.
I didn’t celebrate as much after this one as I did last week
I’m just real pleased with what’s going on right now
I’m really proud of him because he really has made a name for himself ... When we looked at him, we felt like at the very least he would be a great special teams player. He is what you’ve seen. He runs very fast, and he’s fearless; he’s tough. He’s a football player, and that’s the greatest compliment y...
I thought the most impressive play of the game was when Quintavious Harrow had that knock-’em-back, get-everybody-in-the-stadium-excited tackle ... That ignited our football team.
There’s a tremendous opportunity at the University of Georgia for running backs in this class to come to Georgia and make a big impact ... I hope that’s not breaking a rule, but there’s tremendous opportunity, I can say that. If I was a running back, if I was a great running back, I would want to come t...
He's a whole lot better now than he was a year ago, just by virtue of his experience
